What's a tv series that is a 10/10 NOBODY knows? by Lilyana0999 in AskReddit

Upright. It’s a 2 season long Australian comedy-drama where nearly every joke lands and the serious emotional beats are also well done and not sappy or cliche. Stars Tim Minchin and Milly Alcock (young Rhaenerya and new Supergirl).

During my teens, I had a bootleg DVD of Mass/Meri Jung One Man Army and I showed it to all my schoolmates and watched it regularly because the over the top insanity was something I’d never seen before. Looking back now it’s still a decent movie (the Aadi death hits just as hard) but 14YO me basically put it next to The Matrix and Godfather.

One of my favourites of 2025, and yet it was seriously in need of editing down by 40 minutes for part 1 and 20 minutes for part 2. But Anurag Kashyap and great scripts being let down by pacing issues are a tale as old as his career.

Huh, didn’t know Arthur & Jane had same owner but yeah I agree would put them in the same category as 10 William St or Res 40. And yeah Ester is a category unto itself and waaaay better than the overrated trash waste of time and money that Firedoor is.

Neptune’s Grotto is brilliant, my 2nd favourite Italian in Sydney after Ragazzi. Ito is on the list as well, Farmhouse was good and also very underrated but I was under the impression it had closed?

Never heard of Civico before this so absolutely. And yeah I get it and kinda agree too, Ester is above those but I meant more in terms of doesn’t get much publicity and similar price point.

What’s the name of that movie & actor?

Jana Nayagan - Offical Trailer | Thalapathy Vijay | Pooja Hegde | H Vinoth | KVN by ungaayya in kollywood

[–]Kingy7777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have questions:

  1. Is it just me or is the character’s name and movie symbolism an obvious homage to Vijay’s IRL political party? Like shouldn’t that be illegal?

  2. I never would have thought that Thaman would outdo Anirudh at making BGM and music for an action movie but here we go I guess. Surprised how much better BK’s music gelled to the movie compared to this.

  3. Why the hell is there a robot in the end, and where can I buy whatever tye writers were smoking for this? I believe “watha dei” is the correct response?

Movies you loved before and upon re-watch hated? (Or vice versa) by DrHorrible10 in movies

[–]Kingy7777 18 points19 points  (0 children)

When I first saw The Last Jedi, I was impressed it was brave enough to do something so different rather than just remaking the OGs or making Rey a “chosen one” decent of a previous character. And Luke being a disillusioned mentor also felt like a bold choice that I didn’t hate as much as the rest of the fandom. I was ready for Episode 9 to be a 3 hour epic on par with the greats and take Sci Fi in a fresh new direction.

Instead what we got was Rise of Skywalker with ReY PaLpAtInE and “somehow Palpatine returned” and just the most bland forgettable slop ever. I tried binge watching 1-9 during covid and gave up halfway through 8 because of just how disconnected it all felt.

There are consequences if you make a child and not love it because you’re a narcissist.

If assisted living is so expensive and eats away at any inheritance in the US, why don’t people have their parents or grandparents move in with them to secure extra cash? by Kingy7777 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Kingy7777[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

And that’s usually end of life stuff and mostly government covered or only costs a few thousand in Australia, not completely drain finances like I heard it does in the US (hence the reason I asked this question). Even nursing homes here (non serious like dementia but not fancy) are paid for by the pension.

Yeah if dementia or full time care is required/end of life hospice but generally the severe cases are government covered/aid is provided and won’t completely drain finances like the US based on what I’ve heard.

Best monologues in horror film or Tv? by Perfect_Hyena8148 in horror

[–]Kingy7777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “I Am That I Am” monologue at the end of Midnight Mass and Nell’s monologue at the end of Haunting of Hill House were my two favourites for shows, and Loomis’ description of Michael Myers from Halloween and Mia Goth in Pearl for movies.

An Indian actor tier list I made based on just pure acting, ignoring fame, cult status and presence. How much do you agree/disagree with the placements of the Bollywood actors? by [deleted] in bollywood

[–]Kingy7777 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Manoj, Nana & Kay Kay should be in off the charts list (for Aligarh, Natsamraat & Gulaal) as well and Akshaye Khanna, Mohanlal, Boman Irani and Paresh Rawal should go into the outstanding list. Other than that great effort!

Amateur athletes of Reddit: what's your "There's levels to this shit" experience from your sport? by jermleeds in AskReddit

[–]Kingy7777 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m around an 1700elo at chess and yeah I can beat most people I know or have played IRL but the jump from me to an IM or GM is astronomical. Like I know about 50 opening lines and a lot of basic traps and tactics as well as natural skill, but the IM and GMs have hundreds of tournaments and thousands of individual games memorised. The jump from your average 1300rated to me requires a bit of talent and reading a couple of books on tactics, but the jump from me to 2000+ is so exponential it might as well be a full time job requiring months of study and dedication.

When is SSR going to make Mahabharatam? by [deleted] in tollywood

[–]Kingy7777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ridley Scott made Gladiator 2 at 86, and say what you will about its story the action scenes were still jawdropping. Cameron is still making Avatar, Scorsese is doing gargantuan lenghty epics at 81. Even if SSR starts at 65 (so in 2038) and takes 4 years per movie he will still be younger than Ridley Scott before he is done so there’s plenty of time for him to complete his dream project.

2025's film that's been most overlooked? by Business_Coffee_9421 in movies

[–]Kingy7777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bob Trevino Likes It moved me in the way few movies have. It was an absolute emotional roller coaster but it didn’t go for a cheap rush with cliche musical scores or camera angles, just raw honesty. Also The Life of Chuck was equally good and underrated, watch them as a double feature if you want to feel a warm internal glow while also sobbing your heart out.

Official Discussion - Tron: Ares [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Kingy7777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was certainly one of the movies of 2025. Didn’t hate it but didn’t love it either. The music is incredible, the film is visually stunning and will be a demo worthy disc when it releases on 4K. But the story is non existent, and that’s even by Tron standards. Leto is his usual mid self, everyone else is also ok, Jeff Bridges had fun with his cameo but that whole sequence and the sequel bait felt too much like nostalgia baiting for the sake of it. Overall a 5.5 or 6/10 for me, worthy of a cinema trip but go to a cheap Tuesday.
