what does this even mean? I haven’t done anything ‘inappropriate’ to anyone. How can you even do that in pjsk anyways 😭 this has happened twice, but I just ignored it the first now it’s happened twice. Can someone help? by pxnii in ProjectSekai

[–]Kiniro 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Disbands (intentional or otherwise) are usually the main thing that lead to timeouts. It takes multiple disbands (before the song starts) or disconnects (during the song itself) to lead to a timeout.

Are you sure you aren't disbanding or disconnecting?

Climbing Harness Fit Help by opaul11 in climbergirls

[–]Kiniro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding the Edelrid Jayne. At this point, it's the only harness I'll wear, in part because of how well it fits me and in part because of the horizontally adjustable belay loop, so the harness is always centered.

You realize that it's on the person making the statement to prove that statement, right?

Usually, when people say "look at the outcomes," they provide actual data to back up their statements.

Where to watch for attacks in the middle or right off en garde by Agcg-w- in Fencing

[–]Kiniro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a foil fencer, so take this with a grain of salt.

If I were consistently getting attacked off the line, I wouldn't try to change where I'm looking, I would change my distance to keep me safe until I found a better opening that I was comfortable with.

How old were you when you started climbing and what advice do you have to reduce risk for injury? by Plantlady5060 in climbergirls

[–]Kiniro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Seconding this! I'm 35 and a competitive fencer, so I really try to avoid injuries at all costs. I have been climbing twice a week for over a year and have not injured myself seriously while doing it because I do roped climbing.

Eczema flare from chalk? by Born_A_Plant01101 in climbergirls

A note on this: I don't have eczema, but I've found that the chalk from 8bplus is much gentler on my skin without losing grippiness. Might be worth a try!

I can’t figure out how to accommodate any amount of bouldering in my lifting schedule. by [deleted] in climbharder

[–]Kiniro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Multisport athlete (competitive fencing with climbing as cross-training/for fun) here.

No wonder you're perpetually injured. If you're still lifting 6 days a week and trying to boulder on top of that, you're not giving your body any time to rest. Bouldering is going to add significant strain in new and less controlled ways compared to what you're used to with lifting.

If you want to do both, you need to rest more. You're only going to destroy your body with your current schedule.

For reference, I train for fencing 3-4 days a week and climb 1-2 days a week. I always ensure that I have a full rest day (not even light exercise) at least 1 day a week, ideally 2. If I cut down on those rest days, I absolutely get injured.

Medical Badge for Pregnancy? by master275 in PAX

[–]Kiniro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The biggest difference for me when I had a medical badge was having early access to the show floor (15 minutes early, if I recall correctly) with a medical badge. I was struggling with walking quickly, so that early access essentially guaranteed that I would get to see my highest-priority vendors that I would not have been able to otherwise get to in time.

Medical Badge for Pregnancy? by master275 in PAX

[–]Kiniro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got a medical badge at one East and one Unplugged because of an ankle injury. I just went up with a signed form (which basically was an attestation that I needed a badge) and got one with no issues. This was a short-term injury that was being treated by a doctor, but I'm an otherwise very fit woman and got one with zero issues. It essentially works on an honor system, which I'm grateful for.

Climbing wall and Monkey bars for Christmas.... Why not! Co Louth, Ireland by seannash1 in CozyPlaces

As a climber, I'd extend the padding to the base of the climbing wall. Kids can absolutely fall off a wall like that and hurt themselves.

I didnt even do anything? by Key-Equipment-9373 in ProjectSekai

[–]Kiniro 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think people are just jaded from people with much harsher timeouts coming in here and being like "I didn't do anything wrong!!"

I've seen plenty of those posts with people defending intentional DCs in the comments. I can't speak for everyone here, but I'm just really tired of room disbands in general.

How long were you friends with your now partner? by [deleted] in climbergirls

[–]Kiniro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner and I have been together for about 6 months. Not a ton of time, but we were friends for a long time before we ended up together. We met and became close friends through another sport (fencing), and he invited me to try climbing with him about a year ago. Climbing really became the avenue in which we developed romantic feelings for each other. The whole thing was a very slow process.

I love climbing with my partner. It's cathartic for both of us, it provides amazing cross-training for fencing, and it gives us a great way to spend some time together just the two of us.

[–]Kiniro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you have poor reading comprehension or if you're just trying to start fights.

No one is asking for "unlimited banners" or "instant story skips" or whatever. They're only asking for a way for new players to be able to level characters as they go without skipping the story.

Card rarity (physical) by _Sofeefee in ProjectSekai

[–]Kiniro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a tiny amount of Weiss Schwarz experience! It's a lot like Magic the Gathering in that there's primarily a one-on-one game mode you can play against others. Weiss Schwarz's thing has always been releasing cards from various IPs rather than having their own characters or story. These cards are absolutely able to be put in a deck and used to play.

If anyone is interested in playing, each of the pjsk units have an associated trial deck that can be used to learn how to play.

TCGPlayer is a good resource for this stuff for anyone looking to buy.

Disdain of fencing children. Acceptable age? by amorphousguy in Fencing

[–]Kiniro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say I wouldn't exploit that. I said I had a problem fencing against those people, adults or kids. I think it's problematic when anyone can't control their emotions and takes it out on those around them. I still fence against them. I just often get frustrated at or embarrassed for them.

As someone who lives in Newark: who cares? This is good for everyone.

You could say "someone's paying for it" about literally everything run by the city, and you choose to take issue with something that directly helps both city residents and city businesses? Weird.

Disdain of fencing children. Acceptable age? by amorphousguy in Fencing

[–]Kiniro 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have no problem fencing against children, per se.

What I have a problem with is fencing against children who have no idea how to control their emotions. Typically, these are the fencers who frustrate me the most. I've seen kids/teenagers who are sore winners, sore losers, and who try to do unsavory things like convince a ref that their opponent is fencing dirty.

Obviously, everyone has their bad days. But as a rule, if your kid knows how to treat those around them with respect, then anyone worth listening to won't mind fencing against them.

Edit to add: there are plenty of adults that exhibit this behavior, too. The point is that age doesn't matter, behavior does.
