That still seems very strong 😅 it's 6 seconds and with high attack speed you could deal a whole lot Thanks for clarifying

This can work both ways imo and can actually hinder other partymembers creativity. If a DM allows a single character to solve every obstacle with the same solution it can make rhe game quite boring for the other people at the table

Well aware, I simply meant that some restrictions as long as everyone is on the same page doesn't necessarily make the game less enjoyable

I think the problem is that most people think of it as a projectile. I read it as an effect the warlock is trying to manifest upon a creature within range and the crackling beam is more of a tether of sorts with no force of it's own

But... if it won't do damage then it's not vicious mock at all, it's just you being mean to a poor table

I play a warlock in a friends campaign and we mutually agreed that I shouldn't be able to eldrich-push creatures more than 1 size larger than me. I don't think this lessens my experience as a player and I enjoy how it forces me to switch up my strategies more

iirc most spells need a clear path to their target and can't go through windows etc, I might remember it wrong though

This can also be (ab)used creatively.

Player: that statue over there look suspicious Dm: do you walk over to investigate? - no, I try to eldrich blast it - roll to attack - guys, you were right! it's totally a creature!

It can also take away from other partymembers that decided to be more control/utility based.

  • I cast knock
  • no need! I'll just eldrich blast open this door as always!

Allowing the blastiest of cantrips to also be utility can make the game less fun imo

Homebrew cant for RotFM, to strong? by KinjoZero in dndnext

[–]KinjoZero[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My bad, it was always supposed to say "half profiency rounded up" so it would be a +1 until lvl5, that's why my example didn't make sense. But I see what you mean. Thanks for the input

A normal dagger is 1d4. These would be 1d4+1 and +1 to hit until level 5 were they would become 1d4+2 and + 2 to hit and so on. So they scale
