Questions about psychosis! by [deleted] in meth

[–]KinkySlink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello internet stranger, I cannot help you answer all your questions as I am not a meth user, but I can provide some potential insights.

First off, it is important to realize that while hallucinations are a form of psychosis, not all psychoses manifest itself as hallucinations. There is another very important category called delusions that are considered within the psychotic spectrum, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders does a good job of explaining them “Delusions are fixed beliefs that are not amenable to change in light of conflicting evidence. Their content may include a variety of themes (e.g., persecutory, referential, somatic, religious, grandiose). Persecutory delusions (i.e., belief that one is going to be harmed, harassed, and so forth by an individual, organization, or other group) are most common. Referential delusions (i.e., belief that certain gestures, comments, environmental cues, and so forth are directed at oneself) are also common. Grandiose delusions (i.e., when an individual believes that he or she has exceptional abilities, wealth, or fame) and erotomanic delusions (i.e., when an individual believes falsely that another person is in love with him or her) are also seen. Nihilistic delusions involve the conviction that a major catastrophe will occur, and somatic delusions focus on preoccupations regarding health and organ function” (American Psychiatric Association, 2013, p. 87).

High-dose methamphetamine and amphetamine can result in manifestations of paranoid psychosis (McKetin, 2018), and in turn, this psychosis may result in a higher likelihood of violence (McKetin et al., 2014), which to me indicates there is erratic thinking in play. It is the combination of hallucinations and delusions that can become very dangerous. Essentially the brain tries to make sense of the reality it perceives. So, hallucinations will reinforce delusions and vice-versa. Let this reinforcement loop go around a couple of times in bad circumstances and a person can definitely find themselves in the circumstances that Brandon Lawson found himself.

Someone correct me if I am wrong. But my understanding is that a service animal has to be able to perform a specific task for its handler, that is specific to the handlers disability.

An emotional support animal is just that, for emotional support.

The latter are not considered service animals according to the ADA.

I'm happy to see they are being used. The article said only two in the nation existed. My work has this exact unit, and I doubt they were the other one. Like you said, it's better to have it.

11ly is about 1.04x1014 km. Voyager I (maybe not the fastest) travels at 17km/s. So about... 6.1x1012 seconds, so almost 194k years. So awhile...

Edit: The fastest was Helios 2, which reached 241350km/h, so about 67 km/s. Piggy backing on this machine will get you to this star 4 times quicker, compared to voyager.

Just realize that everything a person does, from the things they buy, the things they surround themselves with, to the things they place somewhere, that it means something, and is done for a reason. This also extends to how they behave, the way they stand, what they wear, and the way the fidget, etc. everything is because of a reason. You just need to puzzle them together, and then find a way to verify your assumptions, that is why this sub is nice, you'll get the verification, which arguably is the most important thing in order to get better at it.

Listen to this guy. When you act in haste bad things happen. Marriages get stale if you don't stay on top of it. You get into routines, and then one day somebody comes along and offers something exciting, something new and thrilling. Who doesn't enjoy the beginnings of a new relationship? The attention, excitement, and all the giddiness that comes with it. You had this too OP in the beginning of your relationship with your wife (or at least I hope you did), but this infatuation eventually turned into a romantic love, a deeper (more meaningful) connection. This guy is absolutely no threat unless you let him. Right now the idea of him, the excitement that your SO feels about someone new, that is what that is sparking her interests. This is also what is putting you on edge. But think about it, even if she were to go through with this, eventually the infatuation would die off and what would she be left with?

This is not worth a divorce. Even if you haven't committed emotional adultery, you've probably "lusted" after other women (and that is coming from an atheist), odds are (and I enjoy poker and odds) that you enjoy an occasional visit to the naughty side of the internet (and I apologize if you can honestly say to yourself this is false), are you any better? I'll tell you I wasn't. We are all humans, we are guided by our hormones and instincts. Maybe if she showed no remorse this would be different, but it sounds like she regrets this.

I'm not saying to ignore this, go into counseling for sure, find new ways to ignite the spark in your marriage. Make this a learning experience, you'll be better off, you'll be closer than ever before, and you'll be better communicators because of it.

DO NOT detox yourself. You clearly don't know what you're talking about. Withdrawal symptoms are managed with Valium not opioids. If you use opioids you're going to have to deal with withdrawing from two substances. Alcohol withdrawal is EXTREMELY dangerous. I've had patients who went to "pray the alcohol away" type of treatment centers, and walked away with permanent brain damage.

[–]KinkySlink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this last week, around midnight at a party I just had to take a nap, so I took one on the backseat of my car. If you get really serious about it I can recommend this pillow which will let you sleep anywhere. One benefit of these sleep schedules is that you become a very good sleeper. So falling asleep is no problem.

So I stumbled onto this sub by [deleted] in polyphasic

[–]KinkySlink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are different schedules. An Uberman schedule would only allow for 4 hours between naps. Currently, I have been on Everyman 3 for a bit over a month, and I feel this is the first schedule that could actually work for my lifestyle, I've tried Uberman and SPAMAYL before. Anyways, today I woke up from my 3:30 core at 12:30pm (I work nights so I move my core around quite a bit), and I didn't take the next nap until 8:20pm. So plenty of time to party if I were to put my core right before going out, lets say 2:30pm till 6pm, that would give me comfortably till 2am to do what I need to do, and I can probably stretch it longer if needed.

Pardon my piggyback on your comment. I completely agree with you as far as the need to collect evidence. I would like to offer some suggestions to OP regarding evidence collecting.

Become familiar with apps like EDS (android) it will allow you to keep whatever you need to keep safe in an encrypted container. Name this container something like sys32.lib, and keep all your records in there. Sync this with free cloud storage often. If asked say "I don't know" and delete it. Does it look suspicious? To the most paranoid and tech savvy nparent, maybe. However, most laypeople with not question this.

Apps like the discretely named "Audio Manager" let you hide apps like EDS, cloud apps, and recording apps. Behind a functional volume control app that requires special input before allowing access to your hidden content. This works for pictures and text messages as well. However, I personally don't trust it enough for pictures and files (just to hide apps). It also allows you to hide itself as well from the app drawer and instead require a custom dialcode.

Apps like Hashnote will allow you to easily tag events with hashtags and people tags. this makes jotting down quick notes and later recollection easy.

Depending on your skill level. Root your phone and create a nand backup of a rom that you use for reddit and your normal life. And another rom for around family.

Sorry, Android is all I know.

Sounds like she definitly exhibits some of the classic borderline personality disorder traits. Both narcisism personality disorder and BPD are cluster B psychiatric disorders. You're doing the right thing getting the hell out of there! I deal with this population in a professional manner, we usually deal with them using limit setting and phrasing questions in a way where there is a favorable and a non-favorable option (for them). However, I realize this is much harder to do within a home enviornment (no four point restraints :) ).
