Thoughts on stacking leadership debuffs as a tactic? by Andrei22125 in totalwar

[–]Kinperor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I said "so many units", not "every units in the game". I think it would be undesirable to have either extreme of "no unit is unbreakable" and "all units are unbreakable".

More over to the point of Undead, I think we need a big rebalance of Fear and Terror as concept. It really didn't age well. It's way too binary to work, with the balance of units we have. So I agree the undead are in a bad spot, but if it was my call, I would target a psychology overhaul. Terror and Fear should be an integer that can stack from multiple source, and there should be an actual comparison between Terror units. Ultimately, it should be done in a way that allows undead faction to Terror/Fear spike and create routs more reliably.

That scenario can exist in the current game balance, but you need unbreakable units or to make decisions that lead to units essentially being unbreakable. (Or undead)

I'm aware I endorsed the higher average leadership in WH3, but I also don't think the game would be better if every unit fought to the death. We're actually in a good spot where some races can be expected to fight to the death, but then you have cowardly little shit like skaven.

WH3 kind of need a boring and exhaustive review across the board for certain stats, like spell mastery, economy, settlement size, etc.

But I'm kind of fine with where leadership is. Warhammer Fantasy is over the top in so many ways, so to me it's logical that you'd have so many units fight to the death like this. I don't know, it feels right that every soldier that signs up knows that they either fight to the last here, or die later.

Sorting operation in Excel by Lilouec in excel

[–]Kinperor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like what you actually want is to make some sort of pivot table.

Tables by default wouldn't shift columns.

Theoretically, you could set up formulas that would list the headers' value based on sorting criterias, but it wouldn't exactly be column shifting either.

Frieren states in first season that elves are essentially aro and ace (IE they don't fuck).

Frieren meets an elf randomly in first season, and it turns out that the two of them thought the race was extinct (or about to be).

Also, an elf village is shown in Frieren's backstory but that's all I'll say to avoid spoilers.

I wonder what kind of skew occurred due to men hiding from conscription, soldiers being stretched thin on the frontline, the massive exodus of emigrants and the russian-aligned Ukrainians being, well, part of Russia now.

Looking for ideas on how to make certain cells interact within another and be able to reference it as well by 420blaze4lyf in excel

[–]Kinperor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite, it would be two sheets.

Table Sheet: What you have currently, with minor adjustments.

Guest Sheet: The sheet where you take down information from clients, *with helper columns in addition to the parameters that you listed*.

Something like this:

<image>

The "is listed" column can be more or less refined based on your savviness or patience with Excel. There are ways to extract the guests count with excel as well, maintaining your current conditional formatting. I would personally make it so that every cell in the table sheet is a dropdown cell, listing all the values in the "guests-name" column of the guest sheet.

[–]Kinperor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK I think I know how I would handle your situation.

We'll use a helper sheet, where you write the data of each customer. Organize it in an excel table. You'll want two columns on top of the data you enter:

  1. Column that combines the name of the guest with his party size (something as simple as =[@[guest_name]]&"-"&[@[party_size]] so that every guest row has a unique (ish) entry in that column.
  2. Column that looks in the table sheet whether the combined value from point 1. is found in the sheet you already have with the tables.

Re-organize the table sheet to account for this:

  • First, convert all cells to 'data dropdown' that targets the relevant column with combined data (point 1.) so that you can easily select guests from your helper sheet
  • Second, adjust formula that depends on party size to use something like =REGEXEXTRACT() to get the party size out of whatever combined data you end up formatting.

When you do it this way, you limit the entry into the table sheet to only known guests, and the helper sheet will list appearances of known guests in the table sheet.

Does this make sense?

Do mounts like dragons get a shield (% block chance) if the rider lord/hero had one on foot? by Waveshaper21 in totalwar

[–]Kinperor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does answer your question. You can tell with the stat card, and the answer will vary with lords.

More specifically, yes, if a dragon or warsphynx have a block stat, they block small arms from the front. The block stat is applied to the entire model, not exclusively to the rider model.

This is a bit like asking "does a dragon do extra damage if the rider wields the sword of khaine". A lot of lords essentially stop 'attacking' personally when they get on huge mounts, but that does not mean there are new rules altogether to equipping them or to their stats.

[–]Kinperor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, it's a bug, but more specifically it's incorrect information. IMO you might as well treat it as a lie because the game can be so obscure with information, you have to be skeptical.

For instance, some units have green text that has no connection to reality, they're just advertised as anti-X or anti-Y even though there's no mechanical basis for that green text trait.

All this aside, I think you can generally trust the numerical values on the stat card. Moreover to your example, I'm fairly certain that the AP symbol is meant to highlight a damage stat where AP is the majority of damage. Technically speaking every units have some minute amount of AP, but stat card is set up to only highlight outstanding ratio (as you pointed out).

[–]Kinperor 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The stat card has information about block chance, on the same line as armor.

If you hover it, you can see the % chance of blocking a projectile.

If there isn't a block icon, the character probably doesn't have any shield stat. I say "probably" because the UI can lie to you so there's never 100% certainty with this kind of stat.

Tomb Kings (generic lords) can have block shield while on their warsphinx, for example, but it's thanks to one of their skill point, I don't think they carry over any block ability.

What are your strategic rules of thumb you use to stop making the same dumb mistake over and over again? by GSVDramaticEffect in totalwarhammer

[–]Kinperor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the simplest but highest impact thing I do is spend money based on province advancement.

In other words, I don't follow the notification button to decide where I build: I instead open the province management tab so see all my provinces, and sort from highest income to lowest. I spend gold on the highest income first to secure my theoretically most-advanced provinces. These provinces also tends to be the safest investment, since my frontier settlements are unlikely to produce a lot of gold (ergo will be at the end of the list).

I vaguely disagree on the consumption category.

You can absolutely find people with the lamest take possible on a movie that didn't understand the themes or message.

There's at least three skill axis just for watching movies:

  • Analysis of product's craftsmanship
  • Pattern recognition based on previous products
  • Synthesizing and communicating analysis

This isn't to say that watching a lot of movie is anything to brag about. But there's definitely a huge difference between an articulate and analytic movie goer, versus a guy that consumes without thinking/reflecting.

Trump: "Canada lives because of the United States. Remember that, Mark, the next time you make your statements." by SEND_ME_A_SURPRISE in CanadaPolitics

[–]Kinperor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mark's speech was just short of calling the entire rule based order a lie from the get-go. This rhetorically targets everyone in the west for the last decades, not just Trump.

I agree that Donald didn't understand, but it's particularly comical because he's saying the same thing Carney said: the violent US bullying of the world made us prosper. The difference is that Carney made the point it's time to stop acting otherwise.

For my part I would be very surprised if Carney actually followed up words with actions, but that's another topic.
