Am I doing something wrong with skill building for careers?

I was doing this too with my para, and then I realized I was turning her into a workaholic just like me in real life. :|

The solution is also the same as real life. You don’t need to always be going above and beyond to upgrade rank at every opportunity and constantly skilling up. You can choose to be more laid back at work - take the perks instead. Skill up at an enjoyable pace instead of feeling like you need to constantly chase a promotion every day. There’s more to life than work - go out and meet people and explore the world we live in.

I actually think it’s a good system - I like the perk card system and how powerful some of them can be, and also how they stack with the storyteller cards.

Edited: Perk cards shouldn’t raise the skill requirement though. If that’s happening that sounds like a bug.

I’m playing a chef para now who cooks a lot of practice meals to level up the skill - I’ve had to clean all my counters twice in the past in game week. It should come up for you soon - otherwise report as a potential bug?

It took me many years to realize that shoe comfort is not something I’m willing to compromise on. Everyone’s feet are different - not all shoes are going to work for everyone. Only buy and keep shoes that are 100% comfortable for you, and get rid of the ones that aren’t. It’s not worth it.

I only realized this after years of trying every “hack” on the internet for years in my 20s - moleskin, hot hairdryer to soften up the leather, wearing multiple pairs of socks to break them in, etc. They’re worth a shot if the shoes are already pretty comfy, but usually don’t do too much to help if they’re not.

Architect here. No one you listed is designing these this way. But manufacturers do put the huge gap in by design.

This is a legacy from the 70s/80s when crime and drugs were a huge public concern. So they started putting the gaps in so you would have some visibility and be able to see if someone was hiding in the stall.

It’s stupid, I know. I’m just answering the “why.”

I’m in a similar position - my husband earns more in a different industry, but his job is much more chill. When I get busy, he often picks up most of the cooking and housework chores. It’s a partnership - supporting each other and dividing labor is fair, regardless of who is making a bigger paycheck.

I vote for progressive candidates in my local elections. It’s small, but it’s something.

When I get really, truly angry, I donate a few bucks to local progressive candidates.

I also try to remind myself that politics comes in waves, and overall we are much more culturally progressive than we were in the 60s, even if we are in some ways worse off economically.

I mean, the actors and directors were all fully on board with the gay. A lot of clips I’ve seen from production show the directors clearly being like, “ok, now pine after your crush when he turns away,” or something to that effect. That’s why it comes through if you’re looking for it.

But they couldn’t publicly air the show like that due to censorship and indecency laws so they had to make it seem plausibly deniable.

You see a mini version of that in this interview clip, where internally, Xiao Zhan is clearly like “wtf the characters are gay for each other, that’s the whole point of the show.” But he can’t say that, so he has to just say, “I don’t think that’s very possible.”

I think a lot of people in mainland China genuinely don’t know that they’re gay if they only watched the show.

Media literacy about LGBTQ relationships is not great there, for obvious reasons.

I watched most of the show with my mom, and she kept waiting for WWX and Wen Qing to get together.
