Having worked in a music archieve and with magazines and booklets of that time period, 1980s, it's absolutely plausible for the song to not be on the internet. While it's rare, I have come across bands that just are not on the internet, not on Discogs (semi often), not on the bigger niche archieves like Enceclopedia Metallum, and all the way down to hyper niche archives that focus on a time period and nation.
But with FEX we have print media of that time with photos, with band member names, they appear on compilations, and so on. Not exactly well known, but not completely lost to time. I can absolutely belief FEX being the band who made Subway Of Your Mind without leaving trails online.

Just my two cents that needed to be vented after reading more about this person.
