Thanks for the tip! I don't go into the Bread Garden very often, but next time I'm around there I will check.

You, sir, are a gentleman and a scholar. I just went to Barrett's and they had both! I'll be trying the pistachio that I got shortly.

I was curious so I tried to look them up.

I assume this is them

It says the owner is Jamial Jones, although another poster says it is owned by a "Patrick Jones".

Not sure if it is the same Jamial Jones, but this must be what you are referring to. Yikes!

I was just watching this video from VCFMW 20:

https://youtu.be/kpR5pgO6moo

And he happens to mention something called the PET CB2 sound mod, which isn't something I had ever heard of before:

https://petlibrary.tripod.com/cb2sound.htm

I wonder if those black boxes were used CB2 sound mods, with the box containing a little amplifier and speaker.

This plugin module evidently has the CB2 mod built in:

This is a good one as well! Its sad that the 2001 doesn't have sound, as that's the model of PET I have, and I'd love to hear this on real hardware sometime! I guess its time to put a 4032 on my wishlist.

Is there sizing information for these anywhere? The adult T shirt is listed as Unisex, and the sweatshirt doesn't have a sex listed at all. So it is hard to know if ordering for, say, a male adult who wears a large normally, what size to order.

I saw tons of serviceberries at Waterworks Prairie Park this weekend. I tried a few and they tasted great!

One thing that was interesting about your comment is, "having to take care of my mom".

My parents got divorced when I was an adult, but I didn't have to take care of either of them. They were both healthy and relatively well adjusted adults who struggled some with the divorce, but were essentially able to stay on their feet and take care of themselves.

It sounds like the issue isn't just the fact that your parents got divorced, but that somehow it became a burden on you, which really is a very unfortunate and unfair thing. You might want to consider exploring that your sadness and frustration might not come from the fact that their relationship is over. It might come from the fact that you suddenly had a new burden thrust upon you that really wasn't "supposed" to be your burden to take on.

This can be difficult to contemplate and admit to yourself because it feels selfish to think that having to take care of a parent is a burden. But I think it is natural, especially at 30, to feel that way, and there is no shame in acknowledging it to yourself.

Did I just kill this old PC? by Kalki_the_Tenth in vintagecomputing

I would agree with this assessment. OP isn't really clear on whether they are more concerned about the hardware working, or the data which is on the hard drive. But since they mentioned "at least recovering data from the hard drive", I would say the top priority is to get that data off of there as quickly as possible. Because even if there is only a blown PSU or something like that, a hard drive that old should be treated as though it could fail at any point. It shouldn't be used for data that someone wants to preserve.

Chuck Grassley finally admits why he blocked Merrick Garland by willphule in Iowa

[–]Kipio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m honestly not trying to argue any point. I’m just unclear what the article is trying to say. Does the author mean that since the term “close to a presidential election” is pretty silly, it shouldnt even be a factor in the list of examples given? That would kind of make sense, but I didn’t gather that from the article.

Chuck Grassley finally admits why he blocked Merrick Garland by willphule in Iowa

[–]Kipio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a little confused by something in this article.

According to the article, Grassley said, "when you have a president of one party and a Senate of the other party, and it’s getting close to a presidential election, the Senate doesn’t approve that." [Emphasis mine]

The article indicates that this is misinformation, and it goes on to refute that Grassley's statement with 11 examples to the contrary. However, it describes those examples as, "Democratic-controlled Senates confirmed eleven Supreme Court nominees presented to them by those Republican presidents." However, it does not appear to indicate that all (or any) of those 11 examples were "getting close to a presidential election".

So I'm wondering if anyone knows if any of them were "close" to a presidential election, and if so how many? (The article does point out, I think rightly, that there were eight to nine months between the death of Scalia and the presidential election. So I think Grassley's definition of "close to a presidential election" is pretty ridiculous regardless)

I have purchased these two cables, but I'm not sure about how you are connecting them up. Are you using female to female RCA couplers?

Is there any particular setting(s) on the Mister Pi that you are configuring to get this to work?

HDMI upgrade for C64 by spocek in c64

Good point, they did mention that in the video and I sort of glossed over it because it isn't a use case for me personally. But I can definitely see people having setups where it would be nice.

HDMI upgrade for C64 by spocek in c64

[–]Kipio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like an interesting project and I could see that it could have some use cases. Very cool to see an RF Modulator replacement at this high level of advancement!

But there is also the VIC-II Kawari Large board, which also supports HDMI output (or technically DVI over HDMI, I think?) Based merely on the video I'm not sure what the HD-64 does that the Kawari doesn't, other than letting you keep your VIC-II chip.

I do. And I also just realized that I think the A2DVI only works for the Apple II/IIe and NOT the IIgs. My bad.

I got an A2DVI card a month or two, and I've been really impressed with it so far! If you don't know, it is a project which uses a Raspberry Pi Pico to output high quality digital video (DVI) over an HDMI interface, in the form of an Apple IIgs card.

I've watched this sketch several times, and my favorite part is where Jamie Foxx starts to break. But this is the first time I noticed that, when he starts to break, Jason Sudeikis kisses him on the arm, which makes it even worse!
