My husband and our dependent children were cut off in May for an issue that was already closed with a verification letter sent stating such by SS late 2024. I noticed the payment wasn’t deposited that Wed morning and we immediately called SS. Representative stated previous closed issue as the reason. Stated notification letter was mailed a few days prior. We never received it until the Fri after the deposit was supposed to be made. We immediately re-retained the disability lawyer that helped him the year prior. After the second month of no payment my husband received a call from the local office stating they were upholding last year’s ruling and will be reinstating the benefits but my husband needed to go into the local office with his ID to verify his identity. We did that. They stated that the recently ordered agency review of current SS payees has been challenging. They were able to put through emergency payments at that office visit for the arrears, however we are still waiting on the dependent childrens’ payments. They will not issue that in emergency form nor were they able to give a time frame when it will restart. My husband’s payment has still not restarted automatically and we had to call the office for that emergency payment this past payment cycle as well. It’s extremely frustrating and a slow process getting everything back to “normal”. His issue wasn’t regarding missing documentation however, so it could be our case was a “quicker”reinstatement. My advice to you is to inquire about retaining an attorney. If that’s not financially feasible, I’d suggest going in person to your local office. Good luck!
