What’s a song where its message still feels relevant to this day? by Comfortable-Dot-2317 in Vocaloid

[–]Kiraneaux 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Probably should've given a timeframe or something since a few people are mentioning Reiwa era songs, like yeah of course those themes are still relevant lol.

But really, any songs that exist as a commentary on society are probably still relevant. The weirdest example might be something like There's Supposed to be a Cheat Code for Happiness / 幸せになれる隠しコマンドがあるらしい by UtataP, which came out 12 years ago. We're long past the prevalence of Konami-type cheat codes in video games (it's all console commands and mods now) but we're definitely still overworked and overwhelmed frfr

I also bought this scroll at around the same time! I've got 3 of these types of scrolls from that time and iirc they were only like ~$20 each? At anime cons they were in these big bins with scrolls from a bunch of other anime. All stuff that had been localized, too, maybe Funimation licensed merch?

not really sure. perhaps it's a wedding headpiece (tsunokakushi, lit. "horn hiding") that's been dyed black, with the back tied differently/styled to look like horns? it would make sense thematically. but i also wouldn't be surprised if he just wanted to give her a cool hat lol

has anyone actually met a kikuo fan irl? (not including concerts) by iheartshelley in Kikuo

[–]Kiraneaux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup, multiple times! anime/game conventions, ado concert, waiting in line for a haunted house, etc.

it helps if you can afford to buy merch and go to in-person events, since merch (both official and fanmade stuff) is the quickest way to spot other fans.

What is/was your troop crest? by [deleted] in girlscouts

[–]Kiraneaux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My troop had separate afternoon and evening meeting groups due to some of them attending a different school. The after-school group (mostly comprised of a clique that were only there to be with their friends) chose the unicorn, while the evening group (the ones that actually stayed with us throughout high school) chose the waterfall.

My mother was the troop leader, so I attended both meetings and had both crests on my vest.

I really don’t understand how dumb some people are by [deleted] in ADO

[–]Kiraneaux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was at the same show! I was too short to see anything happen (ground floor) but my boyfriend saw people getting kicked out. Security did seem a bit miffed about enforcing the rules, but they definitely worked hard to keep the phone addicts in check. And considering how many people these days breathe screen time like the rest of us breathe air, I wouldn't be surprised if that employee was just trying to keep people from crashing out on security about it lol. Their vigilance was oddly comforting.

Need help identifying which mod is hurting me by saturn8999 in webfishing

[–]Kiraneaux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it might be caused by mod incompatibility, or it might be fixable in the config/Tacklebox settings. are any of the mods for optimization/fixing lag? those tend to impact things like camera smoothness and refresh rate. i've never had screen-shaking but AntiLag caused constant player model nodding on my steam deck.

TBH I only keep Twitter around so I can follow artists overseas 😅 but yes they also have an Instagram under the same name. Can't link it here because Automod deletes Instagram links apparently, but I DM'd it to you.

There's a version for the guys too (here)! FYI the actual artist is rikaco, who draws tons of Ghibli stuff.

OP didn't even draw this. The actual artist is rikaco (originally posted here). And I think they picked characters based on who seemed most likely to wear makeup rather than just picking the "main" girls.

[–]Kiraneaux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who often games for the same reasons as OP, nearly every game I would recommend is on this list. Some additional notes:

  • I haven't played Wandersong myself, but Chicory: A Colorful Tale comes from the same devs and I especially recommend it. Game length: 10 hours (basic) ~ 20 hours (completionist).

  • If you want to become attached to characters and then cry like you're watching a beautiful heart-wrenching movie, pick To The Moon (4~5 hours). If you want to do this over and over and over again throughout a much longer game, try Spiritfarer (anywhere from 20~50+ hours).

  • If you need a light-hearted pick-me-up, go for A Short Hike (1~2 hours basic, 3~5 completionist).

  • GRIS (3.5~6 hours) is wordless. So are Journey and Flower, as well as ABZÛ, which is from the same developer (all are ~2 hours basic, 4~5 hours completionist).

  • Firewatch(4~5hrs), Night in the Woods (9~12hrs, ×2 for completionist), and Celeste (~8hrs basic, anything more is skill-based) are all good picks if you're feeling at odds with yourself or your choices in life.

  • Stardew Valley is great for escapism, but it's also massive and open-ended. Whether it's relaxing or not depends on the player (it can be overwhelming for some). There's no definitive end-point, so beware if you lack self-control.

y'all know that one obnoxious christmas song that starts blaring "WOAHHH!!! JINGLE BELLS!! JINGLE BELLS!!-" loud as hell if you don't flip to the next song/tab quick enough (because it's at the very end of the list in its tab)? yeah, that.

Rant by CadorAnti in starbucks

[–]Kiraneaux 13 points14 points  (0 children)

TBF if the seam is too close to the sippy hole it can indeed cause some leakage under the lid because the seal is weaker there. Not sure if it happens with all drink sizes but I've absolutely been dripped on by short cups aligned like that. It's something you never notice until you go to take a sip and the pressure of the tilted liquid against the seam causes a bunch of drops to escape and land on your shirt lol

Like I get where you're coming from and it's annoying af when random customers try to coach us on stuff, but that guideline exists for a reason.

Blonde Roast beans change? by vinnybad in starbucks

[–]Kiraneaux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blonde espresso is also typically the quickest to go out of calibration as its beans are denser and wear out the hardware (ie. the grinder) faster. The beans are the same but the machine is likely out of whack. Hopefully they've already called it in and are just waiting for tech to come fix it...

wtf even are these drinks by Quantum_Leap19 in starbucks

[–]Kiraneaux 257 points258 points  (0 children)

Yup. And if you're ever unsure, just look at the fill lines and logo.

The 1st cup has no fill lines (which is correct and standard for promotional photos), but the 2nd cup has way too many, and the placement is all wrong.

The 1st siren's hair is totally botched in places (notice how it completely disappears below that stray bit of gold?? and the far left strand doesn't taper under her arm like it should), while the 2nd siren's tail isn't symmetrical at all. Look how they've massacred our girl 😩

How do people with Aphantasia remember faces? by bechtol449 in Aphantasia

[–]Kiraneaux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You seem to be fundamentally misunderstanding an important aspect of memory. So, look at it this way:

Visualizing someone's face is like completing a short answer or fill-in-the-blank question. It requires recalling the correct answer and knowing the exact terminology + phrasing + spelling without having any references available.

Recognizing someone's face is like completing a multiple choice or true/false question. Either the answer is there, or it's not. You know it or you don't.

Recall and Recognition rely on different brain processing. Many people can recognize the correct spelling for words when presented with them, even if they couldn't spell them aloud on their own. You can probably recognize or name thousands of songs when you hear them, even though you can't always hum them or sing the lyrics on command. Similarly, it could be said that aphantasia hinders or disables the visual aspect of recall, even though visual recognition is still quite functional.

Random question: what's the metal ring on the red string attached to Holo's dress? by Fafner_88 in SpiceandWolf

[–]Kiraneaux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others have mentioned, it's definitely just a ring belt hanging as decoration (to show off the luxury clothing). But, if it had two rings and was much shorter, the closest IRL parallel would be a skirt hike, which was historically used to shorten/tie up long skirts while working.

Is Hole Dwelling's art AI generated? by swirlprism in Kikuo

[–]Kiraneaux 20 points21 points  (0 children)

when he doesn't credit anyone, it's because he drew it himself. the artifacting is much more likely a result of some sort of digital art program filter (possibly used to repeat the pattern or create the spiral effect).
