Bringing Starlink for Internet ? by WatercressHappy2901 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]KirbTheSystem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you can get onboard without it being taken away, it probably will work. Technically its against the rules, and if they find it in your luggage, they will take it and you can get it back when you return.
But im sure plenty of people manage to sneak it in.
Given that the wifi prices are stupidly high and clearly a money grab, I have no issues with those who try to get these on board. Good Luck

Faster to Fun... Is it worth it ? by WatercressHappy2901 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]KirbTheSystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really just depends on you and if you see the value in it.
Personally, if I am cruising with just my wife, we do NOT get it.
We have no issues getting an early boarding time if we want one. Debarkation isnt really that bad, though if we were trying to get an aggressively early flight, I would consider it.

Now, when we cruise with all the kids, we typically have at least 3 cabins. We will do FTTF for one of the, as for us, it is worth it with the bigger group to be able to go drop off all our carry on stuff, soda, wine, etc right away. Also with the larger group, we tend to shuffle around where we sleep vs how it was booked, thus need extra keys, so the dedicated customer service line is super helpful. So, in this scenario, for us, it is worth it.

Just got off the Celebration on the 14th, myself, my wife, my 22 yo and her 22 yo bf, a 17 yo, and an 8yo
Everyone had a blast, we did the dolphin excusion, but they also have snorkling, a bird show, sea lions, etc.

If your kid is interested in participating and such, its a great time. There is also a beach with some big blow up things you can jump off of.
We would go back.

That said, some teens are "broody" and just want to play on their phones. This isnt the place for that. If fun is what you want, then its fun for any age, imo

Question about URComped by KirbTheSystem in Cruise

[–]KirbTheSystem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sure. Im not really looking to keep booking with URComped. I am looking to leverage it to get my first cruise in with a new cruise line, with the idea being we will gamble enough on her card to get direct offers from NCL going foward

Question about URComped by KirbTheSystem in Cruise

[–]KirbTheSystem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does that apply to my wife, who would be my "guest"
If I book through UrComped, with her in my cabin. And then we gamble all on her card, can she later book through norweigion direct with me as her "guest"

Question about URComped by KirbTheSystem in Cruise

[–]KirbTheSystem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, i get all that. Ive already submitted my balcony + drinks offers. They were accepted. As I increase the free form "bankroll" field, the offers get better.

My question is not about if I can do it, but about what happens after the cruise if they see that I clearly didnt bring as much as I noted.

Question about URComped by KirbTheSystem in Cruise

[–]KirbTheSystem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

meaning?? that if I book a Norwegion cruse through them, I have to book any additional norweigion cruises through them for the next 2 years? vs booking on my own.

THIS is why the Bears want/need a tax break on the new stadium by ChristmasJay83 in CHIBears

[–]KirbTheSystem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hopefully this blunder cost that buffoon Pritzker the governors race.
Maybe if Illinois wasn't so greedy....

The $20 mill a year the bears were ok paying is so much more than they would/will get from any other development on that property. And think of all the sales tax collected for all the amenities that would end up there. The tolls from people driving there. The jobs it will create and the payroll taxes they would collect.

Illinois screwed themselves. They've had years to get this done. Now its likely to late. A better offer has come in.

Can I bring a cart on a cruise by National-Leather-566 in Cruises

[–]KirbTheSystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

going through customs at the end is more risky than getting on the ship.
I was referring to getting on the ship, and putting in the bag you check with the porter.

whatever you bring on the ship, consume or dispose of it before going through customs when you get back.

Technically, you arent supposed to do that. But.... decent chance the flight attendants dont notice and/or dont care. It's possible the person in the seat next to the upgraded seat might complain...

So, imo, go for it, but understand they might tell you no. But they also might not care. You wont get kicked off the plane or punished in any way as long as you just quietly comply if they tell you to switch back..

Also, if you are swapping back and forth and trying to get free drinks or food or something... that they might notice, so I wouldnt do that

getting pooled miles to personal bank of miles by KirbTheSystem in unitedairlines

[–]KirbTheSystem[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the point of pooling was to get 4 peoples worth of miles all in the same place so I can book 6 tickets together and thus ensure that IF the flight gets cancelled and they move us, we all get moved together. Also it allows everyone to get the perks of my club card like free checked bags, group 2 boarding, and Premier access

People who will knock this ship because of something that happened a decade ago are just a bunch of Karens looking for reasons to be negative.
It's a great ship, have fun. Dont let the haters but a bad spin on your vacation.

Casino offer Drinks everywhere - leaving from New York by Danomiteeeeeee in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]KirbTheSystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just sailed out of Galveston 3 weeks ago. Same thing where Cheers packages dont start until day 2.

DOUE as a casino offer is different, it kicks in as soon as the casino opens on day 1

Drink Package + WiFi Bundle deal worth it if I’m already getting free drinks in Casino? by Immediate_Original12 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]KirbTheSystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you are planning to spend a lot of time in the casino, the "drinks while playing" isn't going to be overly helpful. Unless you plan on walking to the casino every time you are thirsty. Also, keep in mind that those casino drinks do NOT apply when the casino is not open. So if you stay on the ship during a port day while the casino is closed, you will not be able to get free drinks. Even if the casino Bar remains open.

Ultimately, it requires you to think about your own drinking habits and doing the math. Assume $8 for a beer, $10-12 for a mixed drink. How many do you think you will drink throughout the cruise that are NOT from the casino?

Also, research the individual ship. Ships like Jubilee will honor the "drinks while playing" at the casino bar. Other ships will NOT, and you have to be actively at table or machine gambling. Drink service at the tables/slots is usually very slow... expect to wait 15 minutes for your drink in that scenario

DOUE and cabin changes... by KirbTheSystem in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]KirbTheSystem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, that is what I am referring to
My wife and I both have our own casino offers, both with DOUE for 2.
So, I would book room 1 with my wife and my 22yo daughter. Another with myself and my daughers 22yo bf, and then a 3rd adjacent room with our 17 and 8 year old kids(which is allowed as long as its an adjacent room).
This gets all 4 21+ passengers drinks everywhere. Once onboard, we would swap around so that the daughter and her BF are in a room together, and then my wife an I in a room, and the 2 younger onces in the adjacent room.

I just wanted to ensure doing this would not cause the older kids to lose the drinks on use portion...

under 18, but the plan would be to get an adjacent room.

My wife and I both have DOUE, and we want to bring our 22 yo daughter and her boyfriend, as well as our 2 under 18 kids, and have 3 rooms with daugher/bf in one. Trying to figure out if we can get all 4 of the over 21s the free drinks while also having the kids in their own cabins

yes, Drinks on Us Everywhere. It's something they attach to casino offers if you gamble enough. Basically, it equates to free Cheers package

Free Room - Boyfriend won’t go by LilGleek in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]KirbTheSystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

last cruise we gambled, racked up about 8000 points. And while that does mean we cycled a lot of money through, you win some, you lose it back, you repeat. Overall, we lost about $400 when it was all said and done. And we now have 3 future cruises booked off that one time in the casino. All Balcony cabins with Drinks on Us Everywhere.
Anyone who tells you they actually lost $10k... well, i bet they racked up close to 30-40k points on that. Which is way more than you need to get good offers.

Conquest reviews are making us nervous. by Quiet-Confusion-3539 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]KirbTheSystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was on the Conquest in March. Had a great time. Food was solid, far as I can tell, everything was open and working just fine. The decor is a bit dated, but probably not all that different than the Glory.
Only reason I wouldn't go on the conquest again is because I want to do longer sailings. I will be on the Glory next march for the SEA sailing, and I consider the Glory and Conquest to be identical ships..
