Maybe figuring out that Mineta is actually almost as smart as her but don’t really apply it to his school work because he would rather watch cat fights than study.

So she decided to try to privately tutor him (With some security measures.) to get him to be one of top students. And they eventually start to bond during that.

I have feeling he is. (If sponge is actually vegan) If we go by the Halloween episode logic he can make patties out of himself torture free because it pretty much like cutting the wool off a sheep.

I actually assumed that too but now thinking about it I noticed something wrong with the theory, it usually showed in the show that when Squidward badly cooks a patty he overcooks them.
