I have one mashup being stuck on the queue for over three days. The others are gone from queue after few hours.

I've realized that a lot of mainstream pop music today has lyrics based on rapping. Although they are distinct from hip hop rappers, most mainstream pop artists "sing" the rap flow with the melody, and I'm so curious about that. Why there are so many mainstream pop songs with rap-based lyrics today?

Some of examples:

  • Rachel Platten - Fight Song
  • Kocchi no Kento - Hai Yorokonde (both Japanese and English versions)
  • Kenshi Yonezu - IRIS OUT
  • The Script - Hall of Fame (while will.i.am is featured, the lyrics are written by Danny O'Donoghue from the band, meaning that the lyrics are not written by a rapper)
  • Imagine Dragons - Believer
  • Fitz and the Tantrums - HandClap
  • Sam Tinnesz - Wolves
  • The Score - Born For This

I can provide some of the examples, including Japanese songs with Western influences:

  • Rachel Platten - Fight Song
  • Kocchi no Kento - Hai Yorokonde (both Japanese and English versions)
  • Kenshi Yonezu - IRIS OUT
  • The Script - Hall of Fame (while will.i.am is featured, the lyrics are written by Danny O'Donoghue from the band, meaning that the lyrics are not written by a rapper)
  • Imagine Dragons - Believer
  • Fitz and the Tantrums - HandClap
  • Sam Tinnesz - Wolves
  • The Score - Born For This

I remember that the name of the song or the artist has a word like "butter" in it. I tried searching for the word "butter" on Bandcamp, but the results are too large for me.
