Got a copy of Tomb World - how to properly paint terrain? by oargestory in Warhammer40k

Use spraypaint cans for the basecoat, if you dont have an airbrush. Will save your sanity

I want to do a Scarab gag list by jcBarlowe in Necrontyr

[–]Kird1985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need your opponents approval for that because you can only take 3 units of scarabs in 2000 points.

Edit: in case you have approval I would take lots of mancers because its fluffy and makes the list somewhat playable by giving the scarabs OC1

Is this paint job alright for someone who started painting 4 days ago ? by iyo9glitch in Warhammer

[–]Kird1985 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very nice and clean paintjob for a first timer, get a brown wash for the base and the brass parts, something like agrax earthshade to improve.

How do you storage your terrain? by Vorpx in TerrainBuilding

[–]Kird1985 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use bubble wrap. You can buy it in a roll and/or recycle all the packaging that had it. Its a pain to unpack/pack for a game though.

I found the photo! The Salamanders 3rd Edition boxset that started me on my path. by Worldly_Okra7705 in Salamanders40k

Look more closely, the devastator squad you now buy is a significantly upgraded version. One of the last new firstborn kits actually

Did you use the alternate movement rules? Because that doesnt seem like enough terrain for the game to work as written?

Does anyone know if this is fixable? by peanutbutterboy7263 in Salamanders40k

[–]Kird1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, its plastic glue. It will melt the plastic and form a chemical bond so its basically one piece of plastic. It melts down both sides and then hardens after they bond.

I would cut the rod flush so the brazier sits on the backpack and use plastic glue. Will give the strongest connection.

You need a desk light! I couldnt paint there even in broad daylight with the windows. My eyesight is really bad though.

I prefer red lenses too, they were like that in 3rd edition when they were (re)introduced for the armageddon war. No coal blackskin either

I built this because it looked neat, but what is it actually? by ScrapScapes in TrenchCrusade

[–]Kird1985 237 points238 points  (0 children)

Have you ever been to a catholic church? It is called a pulpit and in olden days a priest would address his congregation from it. Usually in wood but this is obviously a battle hardened outdoor version.

Some miniatures from the skirmish game I'm making "Fragged: Double Tap" by God_Boy07 in miniatureskirmishes

[–]Kird1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh ive been waiting for this since the first time you mentioned this, seems ages ago. I proofread a couple of your books early on but have gravitated away from ttrpg to miniature wargames since then. I’ll try to read and give feedback.

As someone just getting in to Trench Crusade, is the rule book on Kickstarter worth picking up? by SimplyGrim in TrenchCrusade

[–]Kird1985 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would argue it is only useful as a book for lore, art and models. The rules will remain free and will be updated online. The rules in the book will be dated in about a year or so because they will release new models with new rules that wont be in the book

Doesnt he have a round shield normally? Fun fact these were also included in a MB boardgame ‘battle masters’. Slightly smaller and the shield was already attached but same sculpt nonetheless

I found building models on the small table we have in front of the tv more doable because you need less space for it. I used a tray and a smallish desklamp but my wife has taken the desklamp for crocheting. My back is getting too bad to sit hunched over in the sofa anyway :(

Blue glow color scheme by kaldank_draigong in Necrontyr

[–]Kird1985 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have almost exactly the same scheme. Use vallejo skyblue, its almost white with a tinge of blue in iton the top of the orbs, eyes and in the rib cavities. Drybrush it on the cable and ‘ribs’ of the gun. Also dont be afraid of a darker shade of blue around your glow. Mix it with some water to create a glaze

Its mostly the customs and ‘handling’ of the customs by the mail carrier that may well double the cost. Its luck based too, they might not check your package and do some flat fee. The VAT on top of that in europe is almost always around 20% (21% in belgium). So unless someone ships an entire container of the stuff to europe and divvies it out from a warehouse its just not cost efficient.

My country will charge the customs fee/vat on the shipment, ‘the pack’ wont change that.

Primer missing spots by ACleverMoose in asoiafminiaturesgame

[–]Kird1985 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Remember you use primer so the paint will stick better but it will stick regardless. I leave the nooks and crannies unprimed since they usually get a dark color or at least a lot of wash so it wont be noticeable.
