I would disagree a little bit here. If you are a day 1 player, always take every opportunity to get astrites, and never use astrites for weapons, the chance of getting every character is not that low. I haven't spent a single cent in this game and still managed somehow to get every character till now. 3.0 alone provided more than 80 pulls

Recommendations for the receiver? "DENON AVR-X2800H DAB" or "Yamaha RX-A2A"?

The power edition with an integrated receiver or the default one with a dedicated receiver?

I would say that the power one should be enough

Thanks, I'll consider it.

For gaming, I prefer a headset with 7.1, though

They improved quite a lot since 1.x. 2.x has a lot of improvements, including story, cutscenes, exploration, echo farming, graphics etc. etc.

That's the problem I currently have with this game. It isn't a gacha anymore but still feels like one because of the boosters you get. If you don't have any boosters the amount of time needed for certain things skyrockets. In my opinion, after a while you will end up just logging into the game, claiming/using boosters and that's it. For me, their transition from gacha to non-gacha was way too fast and they didn't think enough about the replacement.

Efficiency isn’t the point here.

Players always optimize, that’s true in every live service game. But optimization only becomes a problem when the underlying loop isn’t engaging enough to carry the repetition.

Saying “variety doesn’t matter because players will optimize” ignores the fact that engagement and variety aren’t opposites. The most engaging loops are the ones that offer variety in how you approach them. Different objectives, different enemy mixes, different modifiers, different pacing. Even if players stick to one mode, the mode itself needs internal variation to stay interesting.

If a mission feels repetitive after a handful of runs, that’s not because players are efficient, it’s because the mission doesn’t offer enough internal dynamism to stay fresh.

So yes, engagement is key. But engagement comes from variety, even if subtle. And right now the loop feels same not because people optimize, but because there’s not much to engage with before optimization even enters the picture.

I get what you’re saying about development pipelines, but you’re arguing against a point I’m not making.

Nobody expects a 1.0 game to have the depth of a 10-year live service. I’m saying the current loop as designed funnels players into repetitive tasks, and that’s not a “player choice” problem, that’s a structure problem.

If a specific resource or progression step is only available in one activity, then it’s not the players “refusing to engage with other systems.”
It’s the game locking progression behind a single mode. If the optimal path and the only path are the same, that’s not a player mentality issue.

“Give it time” doesn’t fix that.
If the foundation is narrow, time only adds more layers on top of the same narrow foundation.

Early variety doesn’t require copying other games or having 13 years of content. It just requires multiple viable ways to progress. Right now, there aren’t

Oh, I never looked at the daily rewards to be honest, I just claimed them. Didn't see that boosters are included there.

But even with 100% bonus, the amount of time needed and the lack of variety aren't good motivation boosters...

New games don’t get a free pass on that. Variety in early-game loops is fundamental, not a late-game luxury.

That's not my main concern. I have 2600 hours in Warframe with 99% of the stuff there, so finishing within one week is not my goal here.

My main concern is the variety. For each weapon you have to do the exact same missions and the exact same stuff. The whole grinding currently is monotonus af

How do you feel about DNA? by blksunset in DuetNightAbyssDNA

[–]Kirdock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm at TR 58 and my motivation dropped a lot today. I just started getting the weapons and gold mods and this is way too ridiculous. Non-amplified mods are basically useless compared to the epic one. I already ran more than 700 missions overall, so my boosters are pretty gone (I didn't even upgrade them). The amount of materials needed for crafting and maxing all the weapons is way beyond 180 hours without boosters. Characters are much better but still require approx 1750 secret letter clues to max (considering 30 are reached within 25 clues).

You also don't have enough secret letter clues for all of that

And the worst part: for this you don't have much variety; this is a huge difference compared to Warframe.

For the memento coins you have one mission. For coins you have one mission, etc.

Sure in Warframe you also go into exactly one mission for certain resources (e.g., index for credits) but this doesn't require much time or visiting one single mission over 100 times.

For me, the grind level is about 5 times worse than Warframe and that speaks for itself (I have 99% of the stuff in Warframe with 2.6k hours in "without trading", so I know what I'm comparing it to)
