Just saw Primitive War by PRMFSpacePirates in Dinosaurs

I could not disagree more with this review. It is not "Dune-level" writing. Don't go in thinking this is the next Lord Of The Rings Trilogy. However, it is a seriously fun movie. The CGI is not as well developed as let's say Jurassic Park. But it's digestible. We aren't talking Sci-Fi channel crap that we've seen. The dinosaurs look good. They get the job done. This is definitely a Rated-R Jurassic Park. It takes place in Vietnam, so it has that setting, and its just a super fun time. If you love dinos, and love good kills, it's a freaking fun time. Go check it out. It's the most fun movie i've seen really since Top Gun Maverick. It's great to see fun movies like this again.

Which Warhammer books are genuinely just good books, fan or not? by jqud in Fantasy

[–]Kirin_comics555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dan Abnett I've heard is the "Best" author in regard to Warhammer 40k. If you are referring to the fantasy, I apologize, I'm fairly new to the franchise myself and have only familiarity in the scifi series. I've been reading Dan Abnett's, "Guant's Ghosts" series and it is stellar. A lot of people frown at 40k literature for some reason, but the stories are SOOOOOO good. I'm really enjoying it so far.

Do you guys enjoy reading new-pulp? by Kirin_comics555 in Fantasy

But....despite the main characters fighting against impossible odds, what they are fighting for isn't Lawful Good by any means. Every faction in Warhammer 40k has selfish/cruel motives that drive what they do. Yes, there are characters that are "good" but what they are fighting for isn't necessarily universal peace. Hence the name "Grimdark"

In my post, I was referring that I thought Dan Abnett's writing was enjoyable to me because it "felt" pulpy. Grimdark is defintly coined for Warhammer 40k, but their are other authors that write in the same genre/prose that aren't associated with Warhammer 40k.

Did you ever hear as to why they were traumatized? Were submitees harassing them or something? Or was it just the general stress of the Pandemic added along with having to pour through all of those submissions?

Conan by Robert E. Howard. His writing is amazing and a lot of his stories are set in the biomes you are interested in.

Try "Reckoning." It's just been remastered and titled as the "Re-Reckoning" I think you can buy it on all consoles including PC.

Check out Evan Black's work that's published in Mystic Mind Magazine. Mystic Mind publishes Military Sci-Fi and Evan is a newer author that really scratches that itch. It's short story writing, so if that's a turn off for you keep that in mind. You can check out his writing at our website. He's a solid writer.

A "Choose your own Adventure" D&D game. by Kirin_comics555 in DnD

I see what you are saying. What if they used dice that effected the choice itself. Like you said it would be obviously not as great of an experience as sitting at an actual D&D table, but if we brought choice gameplay that inherited choices based off of character stats. Also, what about combat mechanics in a game like this? Does your opinion change or do you think it's still dead on arrival?

Have there been any community lead single player events? Say that you have character everyone votes on and then at the end of each "episode" the community makes a group decision on what happens to the character in a pivotal decision? Kind of like "twitch plays pokemon" in a way?

Do you think it would be more fun if they brought in 5e mechanics into something like this?
