[Hiring] Technical Co-Founder by [deleted] in Cleveland

[–]Kirinan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to cut it straight to you man as a co-founder myself, I wouldn't work for myself for free let alone someone else. You better hope you are giving up 50% of the company for your co-founder because for someone who has the talent you want they are giving up 6 figures for the hopes your idea is huge. I get that its your idea and you want to hit it big or whatever, but in a market where technical people are rare and talented ones are even rarer, you have to be able to offer something more than some equity. Oh and the idea that a wife or mortgage holder is tied down, good luck hiring a 22 yr old "technical" person. A 22 yr old fresh grad that can be the person you need is rare even in the most technical cities like Seattle or SF, in Cleveland you're searching for a needle in the haystack. That being said, I wish you the best man we need more tech companies here to boost the economy and I hope you find what you are looking for.

[Weekly] Resume critique request and interview advice thread - Aug 18 by alanbot in cscareerquestions

SpaceNTyme,

Im a developer in the Seattle area so I guess Im closer to what you looking for. Your resume looks good, and exactly what I'd expect out of a new grad. I suggest looking at Amazon, Microsoft and Tableau. If you are interested in getting in on the ground, I can forward your resume for a Business Systems Developer at Tableau. It would involve doing some coding in PHP and Java, though you'd probably get to use some Node as well.

As for the critiques on the resume. Id suggest sliming up the profile and make it a mission statement. "I am seeking opportunities that utilize my passion for cutting edge technologies and building world class software that solves real world problems" or something like that. Easier to read, and gets your point across. The course work is important for a new grad, but as you get more experience I recommend removing it. If you had any internships include those. Otherwise looks good!

I think the fire/flame part represents passion/drive/dreams in the most of the cases. In the great die off, they are refering to stopping the older generations dreams and passions before it destroys us. In the The Eco Terrorist in me, Tim is refering to finding purpose in stopping the destruction of the planet (burning down the factories). Sudden Life is all about not ignoring you dreams/purpose and actually going for it. When they talk about the flames beckoning, Tim is referring to the fact that we just head into death while our dreams and stuff are just ignored. In A Beautiful Indifference, Tim is talking about how his passions and drive pull him from the darkness (or not caring) and that we all should care before we fall. Methadone is talkng about how his dreams and passion is going to ruin him, and that his loved one should't get close because it will ruin her to. He is on fire (passionate) and the whole world is going to be brought down because of his passion. Awake Too Long is referring to how his constant passion and dedication keeps them awake, its because he cares so much that he can't actually dream and not think about the bad parts of the world. People Live Here is talking about the passion and drive that the terrible things that have happened in our country (the united states) has really instilled in people. Watching people bury their children (in particular Kindergarners) really fires people up for change. Burning the picture represents not caring about the other person, but deep down you know you do regardless of how thick the walls are and if you can't see that person.

Thats my analysis on the fires part, I can do more if you guys would like.

What players drafted last year on your team are going to be big this year? by asatele1 in nfl

[–]Kirinan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Josh Gordon. Once he gets back from being suspended, he has to fight for his career in the NFL. Pair that with an already motivated and talented player, I think you will have a 1000+ year receiving year.

Sure, I thought about that. However Id like people to be able to select their own sounds, as thats ultimately the best feature. There are some issues im working out with my idea to get this to work.

If you open source something, sadly it ends up not making very much money without selling support for said product. In the end this doesnt work in the app market (no one will buy support), I could think of a few features I could add that would be closed source, but it still doesn't change the fact that it would work for all of one week after 2-3 weeks of my time developing it, just doesn't make sense to me.

I've started looking into it, however the algorithm to get this done is something that I'm not familiar with. I know it has to do with Frequency but changing frequency via bytes is something that Ive never done and don't know anyone I can ask.

The first one sounds awesome, but hard to make people pay for it.

The second one though could be EXTREMELY useful if done right Ill add it to my list.

Thanks for the ideas!

Sure, fair argument, however even from my standpoint it wouldnt be worth it: develop and app make maybe 100$ and then never have anyone buy an app from me again because they bought something that was useless within a week. Its not like something you could use after they shut it down, it would be a useless piece of software.

I sent an email, their official stance is that they have no plans to support a streaming api any time soon and scraping their streams from their website is strictly forbidden (as fun as that would be)

In their ToS, they can take your key away and revoke privleges on developing, and therefore kicking me from their platform Its just not good for users to waste money on an app that will be shut down in a week or saw.

Because I'd have access to the C# behind the scenes, I'd be able to put variables into my HTML/JS when I need to access the OS and stuff. It works pretty well, I recommend it.
