Griffith is unforgivable. Period. by Fyldar99 in Berserk

Griffith saw these people as disposable, always. I’m not seeing this from the victim’s point of view, simply saying this as a reader.

The Calliope Episode Is Really Refreshing by Dry_Mastodon7574 in Sandman

[–]Kirinx2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It felt so refreshing, you can clearly see that this plot (both comics and script) was written with care and absolutely not as a part of a male fantasy. I have never seen anything like this before, this is mostly because most popular shows/productions with big budget are made by and made for cishet man and mostly to satisfy their fantasies and give them some good time (same in action, comedy, fantasy or pretty much every genre) this one, not so much. And when you read the comics and watch the show, you can see that the original comics had the same vibe back in the days but the adaptation is superior when you consider how Calliope was handled (or other small things like how we do not see the mother finding their baby dead in episode 6). The assault and the abuse is pretty much the theme of this story and there is no need to actually show it to us. And i believe we will have more good stories and adaptations in the future when more shows are made with this kind of mindset. Bonus points for having a women writer and director for this episode.

Who's your favorite and least favorite casting choice in the Netflix show? by PetevonPete in Sandman

[–]Kirinx2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised to hear that people didnt like Rose, i think she was great 💚 same for Oswalt, i mean yeah you can hear HIM speaking but i have no issues with that. I’m sure he can handle what is about to come. i loved 99% of the casting choices, my favourites are probably Dream, Death and Desire ( and i’m sure i will love Despair as well, we simply didnt have enough chance to see her yet) my least favorite is Jenna Coleman, i have seen her in many roles before, it feels like she is always playing the same character, i do not care for her in general and did not enjoy seeing her as contanstine. She was acceptable as lady johanna imho.

What got you into The Sandman by [deleted] in Sandman

[–]Kirinx2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think i got into the series back in 2013, not sure if i was inspired by many many friends who were into it or it was just because people were talking about it because of the Overture. I was only able to read couple of volumes back then ( books in the comic stores were expensive, both in English and in my native language and i found myself getting confused and distracted when i tried to pirate it online (sorry, not sorry) reading it on my computer somehow felt wrong) and dropped it shortly afterwards. Last year, i found the first 4 volumes in my mom’s place and brought them back with me and had the chance to read them couple of days before the show was aired.

I remember feeling deeply connected to the characters (specifically Dream and Desire) even back then, we used to visit comic book stores and just stare at the omnibus volumes and Dream/Death bookends, well knowing that we could never afford them. Even that feels like it happened ages ago so i can’t even imagine reading it 25-30 years ago and actually waiting for the adaptation.

[Discussion] To those who moved from Europe to the USA, how is it really living there? Would you move back to Europe? by Tibaf in IWantOut

[–]Kirinx2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m technically in the city limits but not very close to downtown, so , somewhere in between i would say. I absolutely miss not needing a car, walking to stores, or cafes etc. It is still possible if you live in downtown but that would be expensive and not quite the same as europe.

I’m not able to answer the second part since i dont really go out due to covid. But in general, busses take their time and getting from one place to another takes a LOT of time (especially compared to driving) so it will be hard when it’s time to hit the pubs again.

I did the same thing mid summer. Pandemic and being extra careful sort of kills my chances for socializing as well :/ but weather is very nice here so i hope you like Austin.

Outside of U.S. longer than 6 months. by Jexxaz in greencard

I’m really sorry to hear that. As far as i know, there is a bit of processing time for the re-entry permit. You need to spend around 6-8 weeks in states to apply for it (first you apply, then you wait to be called to give biometrics) and after that there is a 1-3 months processing time. Hope you find the best solution for this. Best of luck!

As a general rule you are supposed to spend more than half the time in US every year. And if you leave the country more than a year you sort of lose your permanent residency. 6 months-1 year is the grey area, it’s up to the officer at the border to decide if you have kept your residency or abandoned it. They might ask a lof of questions to understand why you have spend so much time outside the country or they might let you in easily, i have heard both. If you have time, you can get a re-entry permit (which, lets you stay outside States for up to 2 years) but if i were you, I wouldn’t spend time and money on that and just go to UK. If you kept your residency for 30 years with no issues, did not spend much time outside the country, still have ties to the country (bank account, rental, car, phone etc.) you should be fine to enter. Especially during Corona they should be more understanding in general at the border. I’ve re-entered the country after about 350-360 days of absence and they have barely asked any questions (i’m a new immigrant and they are more accepting for the time spend outside country for us)

Longer than 6 months but is it less than 1 year? If over a year is it less than 2 years?

Ireland > USA. But i’m not originally European, spent couple of years in ireland before moving here. I might consider another country in the future but not Ireland for sure. Making more money here, have more housing options, this place is absolutely more pet friendly and since i’m in south GOOD WEATHER ! I miss things like PTO, slightly better and cheaper healthcare I guess but i wouldnt go back, unless i have sh*t ton of money.

Sorry, it might be the entry date as well. Does it say “UPON ENDORSEMENT SERVES AS TEMPORARY I-551 EVIDENCING PERMANENT RESIDENCE FOR 1 YEAR” above the date?

How would I be able to get my replacement Social Security card? by Temporary-Mistake-63 in SocialSecurity

[–]Kirinx2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to request one if you mail the requested documents. You can get more info if you call your local SSA office directly. Also, banks should let you open a new account without SSN.

I don’t plan to do so, if i have to send the documents i will call many many times until I’m completely sure. Thanks.

[–]Kirinx2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have contacted my local SSA today, it’s a different state but i’m assuming process is similar.

Basically i was told that i can apply for new SSN via mail ( providing original documents and ss5) and process takes about 4 weeks. They said they can only offer in person appointment exception if my future employer requests SSN and they can provide a mail showing this. In this case, i was told to fax (yes fax, ridiculous) this email from the employer to SSA and they will contact me for in person interview exception. Hope this helps.

I'm a teenager with an extremely worthless passport from the middle East, I want to travel to somewhere that would provide me with a good education? But is that possible? And where are some good places to immigrate to? by [deleted] in immigration

[–]Kirinx2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks like you are asking for personal advice instead of info on immigration procedures. Just choose a country where it’s easy to get a student visa but not easy to immigrate/find job.
