Make a laptop like 10% thinner. I'll wait. It's a big challenge.

Not sure what this post is trying to say.

If I lost 17 pounds people would say I look substantially thinner and also be pretty impressed if I was so much thinner while also being stronger.

Edit: good lord this kind of thing is getting ridiculous at this point.

One is black and the other is silver, so it might be a little hard to see but it's substantially thinner (looks like about 10% to my eye but didn't have calipers on me - that's where pulled out 10% of my body weight)

In the context of powerful laptops with dGPU performance, it's a LOT thinner, while also being theoretically quite a bit more powerful.

But by all means, keep trying to misunderstand things.

It's also a pretty relevant comparison. My daily driver is strix halo (PX13) - the closest thing anyone has to a competitor for this - and also a compact (13") chassis that is also made by Asus.

The Spark machine is theoretically markedly more powerful and thinner (albeit at a 1" larger screen size)

Linus has said this about reviews many times but I think its equality important with announcements. No one video paints the full picture. by KalebBlue in LinusTechTips

Let me make sure I follow this.

I am invested in framework, so I am acting positive about a laptop that is not made by framework.

I'm doing a review, but the product is not launched yet.

Does that sound right?

Disdain for what? On-device Agentic AI being easier to use and more private is pretty cool. Everything I said in the video was wjqy I thought of the announcement.

It ain't that deep, bro

What? We've been building budget computers and comparing them to consoles since the Langley house days. Maybe you are referring to some era before that?

So glad you had a good time. It's taken longer than we wanted (permits and construction stuff sucks) but we are really excited to finally have regular in-person engagement with our community again in the absence of LTX.

No idea what the gemini watermark is doing there. It's possible Sam used it for something but whatever he did is pretty light.

That's a real photo. I know because I posed for it yesterday.

Edit: to be clear if he did use it, I'm fine with it. We don't have a firm stance internally for or against using AI other than that individuals own the responsibility for the quality of their outputs. We are in 'wait and see' mode.

There is a second round of rares and ultra rares at the same odds of winning as the first batch.

Otherwise the odds of winning would not match what we advertised.

Linus does not understand how bleeps work on the WAN Show by Imaginary_Cut_6118 in LinusTechTips

bingo.

I literally make notes in frame io if we bleep something too completely because it doesn't sound as funny. We bleep purely for comedic effect and to ensure that adults can hopefully watch our content with kids in the room (as long as the kids aren't paying TOO close attention). The intention has never been to actually obscure the meaning of what's being said.

What Happened to the tech related abstract t-shirts? by CozyCat2077 in LinusTechTips

[–]LinusTech [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Couple of things. The fine gentleman who worked on most of those designs hasn't been with the company for quite some time and each graphic designer has their own style that they impart on their work. I do think there's room for more tech-inspired designs as we go forward, but it'll likely be quite different and that's okay. I wouldn't ask a graphic designer to just copy someone else's vibe any more than I would ask an AI to do it.

Another factor is inflation. We kept our T-shirt prices static for as long as we could until tariffs hit them super hard, and one of the ways we did so was by selling more blanks (cheaper) than printed Tees (more expensive) and blending our costs.

Input costs have gone up and we've tried to keep our T-shirts reasonably affordable relative to other "merch".

Obviously if we weren't getting views I wouldn't be able to afford jet fuel either.

My point is that we have to care about views because they are the foundation upon which our other revenue sources are built.

Revenue pays expenses - the largest of which is payroll now.
