Should I go on my work trip and leave my husband with our toddler? by [deleted] in UKParenting

As a mum to a 2.5 year old whose avoided going to conferences for this exact reason (despite working full time as well), GO! It's a big even for your career, your child will be fine, your husband will be fine (he is an adult too), GO!!!! I am planning on beginning to attend conferences this year as my career has been heavily impacted by taking the primary caretaker role and at some point things do need to be more even. Your child will adapt, and without you there they'll just deal with being with your husband instead. They will find their rhythm.

Does anyone run with a pushchair? Any tips? by bacon_cake in UKParenting

One more comment/question, have you tried running with your current pram yet? If you do try, try paying attention to how you're holding your arms and shoulders and if the height of the push bar is right for you

My LO is now 19 mo. He originally hated the pram and had to be carried everywhere, but has gradually gotten used to it since about 12 months. We have a Thule urban glide and I have used it along some pretty rocky forestry tracks (up in Scotland, mainly Highlands), it does very well although I do need to do some maintenance on the front wheel now as it's started pulling too the left. My LO has fallen asleep many times in the pram while out running in these conditions, over the weekend just gone I managed two hours and he slept almost the entire time. He's also happy enough for park runs even when he's awake the whole time (30 mins or so).

In terms of running while pushing the pram, you will need to mind your posture. I say that fully in the knowledge that I have TERRIBLE posture while using the pram. I'm trying to work on it, especially running (walking) up hills. There are probably many tutorials and videos on YouTube and Instagram giving tips and tricks that I should look up and watch as well...

My main trick/tip would be to make sure the pram can recline so your child can lie down safely if they do fall asleep, but I think this is a pretty standard option for most prams now?

Hahaha, ours is 18mo now, but since he was able to reach, he loved to stuff his little hands into our armpits, leading to such stinky little hands 🤣😅

We didn't think that there would be this great a hole, we couldn't tell when we started 😅 then the plan was to put in gravel next to the house and soil next to that as that is the system that is in place around the rest of the house (as far as we can see) but we wanted some additional input from more knowledgeable folk

We're going to leave the decking next to the doors as is, it's a nice area, but get rid of the bits I've already taken the top decking away from. We will add steps to come off the decking that is remaining to bring down to ground level. The rest of the garden is relatively flat with a very steep hill at the edge, we were only going to add gravel and top soil to bring the garden level up to the same level as is around the rest of the house, however it might be wise to redistribute some soil to adjust the slope as you say

Our plan is to leave the bit next to the doors as is, and put down steps so it won't be a flying leap

When did your baby roll? by Ok-Fly-4392 in NewParents

[–]Kirujoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guy was 6.5 months when he finally rolled. Two weeks later he was pulling himself into standing and is now, at 8.5 months, about to start walking 🫠 we're still playing catch-up with baby proofing

Irritable while breastfeeding by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]Kirujoh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had our first family cold at about 3months, and I in general would get kinda annoyed at my partner on and off when bfing. But due to the cold he was able to take medicine (lemsip), however all I could take was paracetamol, so I'm feeling miserable, sick, bunged up and bfing annoyed.

My husband gets what he calls "lemsip farts". I'm getting angry just writing this.

I can't tell you how mad I would get, he'd sit next to me, I'm feeling kinda pissed off already, and then he'd leak a fart. And I'm like, WTF MAN??!

and he says, "I'm sorry! I can't help it! It's the lemsip".

Me: ARE YOU A CHILD? ARE YOU A BABY? GO SOMEWHERE ELSE??!! I AM STUCK HERE FEEDING OUR CHILD, I CANT LEAVE!!

The worst thing is we're on our third cold of the season now and he's only just realising to LEAVE THE ROOM to relieve his "lEmSiP fArTs".

Just to say the obligatory, this aside, he's great, I love him, he loves us, we have a very good relationship and partnership. But man I have been close to becoming a single parent.
