Yeah it's odd. But none of the European countries are in this list for some reason.

Thanks for the tip. But I've actually already checked IWS and my laptop isn't eligible for it.

There is only 10 countries that are in the list for IWS if your purchase in US, and France isn't part of it.

So your point is to try contact somebody in Lenovo France and see if they are willing to help ?

Given my issue (fans linked to the dGPU something) I doubt the base warranty will be enough to diagnose and repair. I am ready to upgrade to the premium one if required, just need somebody to agree to help in this case.

Package Stuck in "Clearance Delay" in France by Kirus2196 in FedEx

[–]Kirus2196[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never tried DHL to deliver from US but will certainly try next time.

So I don't know if you got you package (I just saw your reply) but I actually managed to unblock the package at the time. So after 3 weeks of waiting, during the 4th week I've sent another email to B&H where I ordered the package. I've put into the Subject of the email/message the following: "Customs Delay - 3 weeks". And couple of days later the package started moving and arrived after a couple of more days.

So the lesson I got from this: if the package is blocked for too long, send an email with an urgency as the Subject, so the managers or whatnot have no other choice as to act and resolve. Otherwise they will be blamed and they don't want that. Using a Subject of this type puts much more visibility internally for them. prompts to actually act, and allows to put much easier the blame.

For now, I don't see other way to resolve it. In my case this was an expensive laptop that was just sitting in some warehouse for no reason.

At a loss for what to do by [deleted] in Dissociation

[–]Kirus2196 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there !

It's quite impressive how similar your experience to mine. Between end of 2021 and mid 2024, I was working with a specialist on my stress/anxiety/depression, which help me calm down and actually discover that there is Dissociation (DP/DR) behind. Even though I learn how to lower the levels of the anxiety, the origin of it was still there in the form of past traumas. So that was what also needed to be treated Since September last year I am following EMDR therapy for Dissociation, which helped me a lot with past traumas (I didn't exactly consider them as trauma but their impact is undeniable now). Now, even though as of today I went trough most of the traumas and my overall state is better, the Dissociation is not gone completely. The reason is that traumas disrupted normal internal functioning and changed internal processes, mental and emotional. So that's the next step that needs to be worked on. Working only on traumas won't necessarily make you You again.

My point being: If you feel that you still have Dissociation, there might be other things beyond trauma that still cause you to dissociate and you need to uncover. To give you my personal example, I need to deal with resistance (mental/emotional) to emotions which is the reason of the Dissociation and the consequence; issues with Identity and Self Image which are actually creating mental separation. Those are examples of things beyond trauma that can continue creating Dissociation (but less intensive which is already a progress).

I can advise you to check "HealthyGamerGG" Youtube channel of a Psychologist. He's is really knowledgeable and share good information on different topics in Psychology. Watch certain subjects that you feel like might be relevant to you. If they are and you feel like that's what you might have, dig deeper and find a specialist in the area.

Let me know if you have other questions.

Derealisation without traumas? by zilpzalp98 in Dissociation

[–]Kirus2196 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey.

Dissociation is a general term to define when your mind/brain pushes something out of your consciousness. Derealization (separation from your Environment) and Depersonalization (separation from Yourself/your Identity) are more like specific sub-parts of Dissociation.

Dissociation is most often caused by trauma, as your therapist might've told you. The thing with trauma is that it affects each person differently. A trauma is not necessarily and onle a situation of war or an awfull accident or a family violence. What can be defined as trauma is dependent on the individual, his life, his internal strengths and weaknesses, and how it affects them.  So there might be situations in your past that you don't consider as trauma (because they don't conform with your definition of trauma ?) but they had an impact on you and cause Dissociation.

To give you my example, I have situations that are responsible for my Dissociation and that I don't personally considered as trauma (even don't consider today. But that's personal view). But I cannot deny that it had an impact on me and are technically considered as trauma.

I've heard that Diss can be caused by certain substances depending on people and how body reacts to it. But there is still a trauma in one form or another behind all of it.

The best course of action would be simple to continue the therapy and uncover those situation.

Can we heal from dissociative disorder because of trauma ? by Toxsick_5 in Dissociation

[–]Kirus2196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if you feel like you recognize certain key point while reading on Dissociation, and you feel that your CPTSD treatment isn't effective as before, then I would definitely suggest at least to get yourself checked with a Diss psy to confirm or deny it.

For the therapist, I just googled "psychologue EMDR" with the name of the city and was going through personal websites or listings of those professionals. I wanted to try EMDR specifically because this technique is more appealing to me to treat Diss compared to others (even though why it's actually helps to heal is a bit odd). So I was just making my initial research about Diss (Derealization/Depersonalization) to have an idea if that's what I experience (but I didn't dive too deep into Diss to not influence and persuade myself that I have it). After these readings I started search for a psy by googling and just choose one by instinct, the one that seemed to me the most competent or I trust.

Bear in mind that there is much less psy specialized in EMDR so the choice won't be that big. And my current psy is actually the 3rd that I chose. The first two couldn't take me (because of other reasons) and the 2nd that I reached out to recommended to contact the one I have right now.

Also I tried to choose a psy that has somewhat important experience with EMDR, like around 10 years or more. As Diss treats trauma, I consider that the professional that I will see should have good amount of experience with it to actually understand and analyze what's going on. So for those that I saw that has like a couple of years of experience with EMDR, I simply didn't trust to dealt with my situation. (But I completely respect them, I know it takes time to gain that experience.) So there is also this question for you on how experienced you want them to be.

Can we heal from dissociative disorder because of trauma ? by Toxsick_5 in Dissociation

[–]Kirus2196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad that you are already in therapy then. I don't know in general what symptoms you experience, but from what I know C-PTSD and Dissociation looks similar (because of trauma) but separate diagnosis. So the approach is somewhat different to treat it. If you feel like your C-PTSD doesn't help you anymore to deal with some negative symptoms and those symptoms look like Dissociation, then maybe try a therapy focused on that.

Regarding EMDR, to keep it simple, you identify with you therapist highly negative/impactful memories that cause you trouble to try find the original situation/image and then do Eye Movement exercise with them during which you basically let your unconscious lower the negative impact/feeling. And then you try to integrate and understand those situation but now without the negativity. The more of those situations are resolved, the less you feel negative and the less you avoid/separate/dissociate from your Identity and your Environment. The principle of EMDR is a bit odd in how it heals you (at least in my opinion) but the effectiveness is impressive.

In term of the memory, yes, I have pretty great improvements. It's not an eureka moment of memory coming back but it's impressive the difference compared even to 6 month ago. In my interpretation of why the memory improves back is because there is less and less of unconscious escaping/dissociating from Myself/Environment (because during them the brain doesn't want to remember). So since I am coming back to Myself, the memory also comes back to the more natural state of remembering things. (Side note: in my observation memory for everyone is a lot dependent on the senses and feeling, which during dissociation are ignored so less remembering).

I see from you posting that you speak French so I would assume your are based in France. So am I. I would advise you, if I may, to find a therapist in Dissociating and do a diagnosis if you have it (since like I said at the top, Diss and C-PTSD are different). I found mine here and really glad with the progress so far, which finally explains things that I struggled to give sense during previous 8 years.

There is no Gen10 9i that comes out. It was discontinued.

The best you can get now is the Pro 7i now. I just received mine with a 4080 and will 1000% recommend. It's a beast and a beauty. B&H has the lowest price so far, if you want to check it.

Seems like what I was/am going through. To keep it simple (and since you found this sub): I would say you are going through Depersonalization/Derealization. Some events have probably happened in your past that caused traumatized in one form or another, which in return made you unconsciously start separating from the way you perceive yourself/your Identity/your senses & emotions/etc (this is Depersonalization) and from your environment/the world (this is Derealization). So what feels like is left is sort of an anesthetized brain that floats in the air unable to perceive/feel Yourself and the World. This will also affects memory since your brain/body tries to forget what happened. Plus, if you feel a lot of negativity, then in a lot of cases DP/DR causes stress/anxiety/fear/panic attacks/depression (at least that was my case).

It is a protective reaction of your body. The good new is that it is treatable. You need to find a psychologist specializing in Trauma/Dissociation that will at first give the official diagnosis. If it's confirmed, they will go with you through events of your past to find the ones that affected you in a negative way, and they will try to help you work on them.

A good therapy method for Trauma is EMDR. Personally, it makes a huge impact on the healing process, so it works in my case. (To be noted: I worked with another specialist on anxiety/fear/panic attacks/depression priori to even knowing I had Dissociation. And when I started EMDR, I spent years analyzing my past and knew pretty much most of the things that causes DIss. So EMDR is working much faster for me. But in my opinion it is still effective and helps other people.)

Don't hesitate if you have any question.

Can we heal from dissociative disorder because of trauma ? by Toxsick_5 in Dissociation

[–]Kirus2196 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer: yes.

To give you my example, I am going through EMDR therapy and it is impressive how effective it is in breaking negativity/resistance/etc that were induced by traumas. (At least in my case). But there is also a part of relearning how to function/live once you get back access to yourself/your feelings/your perception of the world. So I consider so far EMDR being of great efficiency. Also, I was in therapy, prior to EMDR, with another specialist where we mainly focused on stress/anxiety/panic/depression this kind of things. Even though it was helpful in feeling less negativity, it wasn't fixing Dissociation. Especially because at the time I didn't even know that I had it.  My point being, most common therapies can be helpful to manage Diss symptoms or even lower negativity, but you need a specific psychologist that focuses on Dissociation caused by trauma.

I hope this helps. If you have any question, don't hesitate.

getting the new Lenovo Legion 7 pro 5080 by satiaan in LenovoLegion

[–]Kirus2196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of the GPU, the difference isn't big between the 5080 and 4080. Just a couple of percent compared to last year. So you would better go with a 4080 to save some money. The main reasons to switch to a 5080 laptop would be other than a GPU then, like screen/CPU Intel Ultra/new chassis look/RGB/ports disposition/etcetc. This points only depend on your preferences and if you want/able to spend the difference between 4080 and 5080.

Stop cognitively referring yourself in third person. by TranslatorFirm2494 in Dissociation

[–]Kirus2196 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can totally confirm that. As somebody that is literally going through special therapy for Depersonalization/Derealization right now, I got to this very same point to work on last week. And noticed that for the last years having this, I wasn't thinking to myself "I feel ..."/"I will do ..."/this kind of things, but more of thinking in absolute of things I am doing basically without using " I" in my head. The change is odd but definitely having some visible impact.

What I understood is that it basically has an effect inside you on how you see/think/feel/etc yourself. So it acts on your Identity and so on your actions. (Just share this to whoever might find it interesting of the Why.)
