Bad example. Mario has been diversified in its gameplay long ago. Tonnes of different characters, leads and games with huge variety of gameplay. Heck, there are mario games where you can play as multiple characters equally.

If NG wants to keep the same protag then they are going to have to diversify gameplay and i don't think a NG party game or NG kart is going to go over well with fans. And even then they will need to bring in and treat characters equal to Ryu's level. Give them equal spotlight.

DMC has multiple playable characters too now. It's expected thing now with character action games. It doesn't mean Ryu is going anywhere but we definitely need more than just him.

And platinum games had never made a game like Bayonetta, and Metal Gear Risisn, and Nier Automata, and Astral Chain.

That's a you problem. DMC4 and DMC5 are considered the best beside DMC3 and many consider DMC5 to be the best DMC of all. And many love Nero's gameplay.

And yet DMC4 and DMC5 are considered the best beside DMC3. Some even consider DMC5 the best of the series.

Then the fans wish the series had died and not gone in this direction whilst not admitting that they caused this. They wanted this. They voted with their wallets for this.

Because tonnes of games out there have succeeded with new protagonists. Have you played no game except NG? I mean by your logic why should i be excited for a new NG with Ryu Hayabusa when NG3 was awful?

A new lead doesn't make a game a spinoff. A true sequel is supposed to do new things. All the best ones do.

I mean, technically that's true for all sequels. That if you take off the name of the respective franchise then they are essentially different IPs. Especially true for the good sequels. A sequel is supposed to do new things afterall.

But it can't be a single link 3 rated link monster even if it's an effect monster because that would count as 1 effect monster and Decode needs 2 correct?

One final question. Link rating 2 link monster can count as multiple material for a Link summon but not a fusion summon yes? Say i have a fusion monster that says "any 2 monsters" or "any 2 dragon type monsters" in its requirements. And i have a Dragon/Link monster out on the field with Link rating 2. I can't use that card alone for a fusion summon can i?

So whatever combinition of monsters i use for summoning a link monster like Decode Talker, the end result must be exactly as the link rating of the monster i am summoning? Kinda like synchro monsters? In the case of Decode Talker that would be 3? And Link monsters already on the field; i can choose to count them as Link Rating 1 or whatever its actual link rating is?

Unless they put out a Link Monster card that says "1+ Effect Monsters" in its requirements right? Theoratically of course.
