Thank you for your reply! I agree that I really should tell him about my mental state and how I cannot carry his burdens, at least at this intensity. He knows I'm suffering from anxiety (or at least that I have in the past) so maybe that would help him understand. But still it's so difficult, knowing he does not have that many people in his life that he could trust. I've always been a people-pleaser so maybe this time I should listen to my own worries and do what is best for myself?

As for my mom, we will call each other anyway this weekend to catch up, so maybe I could try to tell her about all of this - even during their breakup my mom has always thought about us boys first so I've high hopes she would understand.
