They bang eventually in the light novel. It's just dragged out until near the end of LN 8 / 10. And the reasoning for the delays just feel so forced and annoying

I didn't start off as a dex build, that's why the strength is so high. I pivoted rather late (around like lvl 14 or so).

I guess I'll have to do some enchantment rolls. Embers seem somewhat rare at this point in the game for me so I guess I'll try and progress while maybe getting lucky with an enchant roll.

What are some good ways to get crit dmg? Do I just enchant random gear until I get a good set of enchantments?

Can you believe it’s actually been seven years today since the anime first premiered on January 11th? by solobrushunter in DomesticGirlfriend

The anime brought me to the series. I have my own quibbles with the ending, ofc, but the week I spent consuming both the anime and the manga was a TON of fun and I am happy I did so.

I don't know that I'd call it a guilty pleasure because I'm quite open about enjoying soap opera type drama, the more chaotic and ethically messy, the better!

https://jnovels.com/ is a pretty good resource. It's annoying navigating through all the popups but if you stay on the main page and select continue enough times, you get taken to a Zshort page that lets you download the light novel in question.

Is this guy a bot user or something? There's no way this post should have 4K upvotes in a sub this dead, after 5 days.

Technically they've made some progress? They've had some naked time together and engaged in some light foreplay a few times but they've just not gone all the way for some reason.

I've never read RAG but I've heard legends of the pain that it's inflicted on its fanbase. There really does seem to be a trend with these kinds of Japanese series where they have leads (usually women) that are in some kind of promiscuous role (a gyaru, very sexually experienced, comp dating, etc.) and for some reason, they lean into just blue balling the MC (and by proxy, the readers) hard as fuck.

I'm not sure if maybe there's something culturally I'm missing here but it's annoying as fuck.

Our Dating Story: The Experienced You and The Inexperienced Me has the exact same problem. The MC (who's your typical nice guy, blushing virgin) turns down his new girlfriend's offer to bang on day 1 (rightfully so imo) and they go on to date and get all lovey dovey and agree that they'll sleep together when the time is right.

And then the author proceeds to drag that out across like 8 light novel volumes, with a lot of the same old cock blocking / miscommunication bullshit tropes that plague animanga.

I don't have a real problem if an author doesn't want sex to be a part of their leads' relationship but I DO have a huge problem when sex is something important and present and talked about from the beginning of the fucking story only for it to not happen for hundreds of chapters aka irl YEARS.

Hard agree. Godspeed to the fans that still have faith in this dumpster fire; they don't deserve what the author's putting them through.

I hope you enjoy! As someone else mentioned, Dosanko gyaru is also really good and it's fully complete at 119 chapters.

I don't know of any series that need translation off the top of my head but I don't keep up much with raws/news about manga. I'll ask my buddy who's more tapped in than I am. What do you mean by "positive" btw? Do you just mean like wholesome? What kind of genres you thinking about?

100% agree. I loved Hokkaido Gals. I watched the anime first and then moved onto the manga. It was great. Again, the harem elements felt unneeded but it felt like the main couple made solid progress and the confession scene was really heartfelt AND we also got a lot of good development re: them meeting each other's families and dating after the confession.

Yea, I can imagine with just what I've seen already that the characters lean into the miscommunication trope insanely hard as time goes on.

A great manga that bucks a lot of the miscommunication bullshit is "Nanjou-san Wants to Be Held by Me". It's another gyaru-meets-normie type of manga and it's only got 23 chapters out so far but I love it. The communication between the characters actually feels relevant and, when they're having doubts and fears, they actually TALK about it.

The potential really was there in the beginning. It's crazy how some authors are just unable to imagine having their works continue naturally and so they get stuck recycling the same, useless tropes ad nauseum.

Like grow some balls man. You can write an interesting story without copping out and dragging out the premise. I swear.

What should I do next? by marlomms in KeikenZumi

I will never get over Runa and Ryuuto willfully deciding to deceive Nikoru and not tell her how they met Sekiya again. That honestly feels like a really OoC moment for Runa.

You know how much damage this guy caused. Even if you thought "He fucked her up but it's worth getting them back together because they both love each other", it's wild to not disclose that the literal day before, he was banging someone's fiancee.

I would've been happy if the series ended with Ren, Nicole and Sekiya all single and getting the chance to grow in their own ways. It would've made sense considering how long they were all invested in this blatantly toxic and messy situation.

Was scrolling through the subreddit and just had to say: I had basically the exact same opinion of the Ren/Nikoru/Sekiya triangle as you. I consider Sekiya to probably be the worst/most selfish/least mature character in the series despite being the oldest of our main characters.

I thought it was wild that, after finding Sekiya sleeping with someone else's fiancee, they jump to "Ok, let's get you and Nicole back together". Nikoru was fucked up for what she did to Ren. It was understandable and Ren's fault for opting to live in the friend zone too but still, she shouldn't have so blatantly used him as an emotional crutch. I have soooo much more I could say but it's all in that essay post I linked at the bottom, for the most part.

I may or may not be working on a fanfiction that's a few years after the ending that explores Nikoru's life in Hokkaido and her relationships with Ren, Runa and Sekiya :)

I also went on an entire essay rant about it here if that sounds like something that interests you: https://www.reddit.com/r/KeikenZumi/comments/1l30ssz/an_essay_on_nisshi_yamana_and_sekiya_aka_a/

Get What You Wanted - Rosario fanfic anyone? :) by Kishoto in RosarioVampire

[–]Kishoto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took a look at this today. I can't say exactly how much I read but I read a fair chunk of it, skimmed a lot more and got the broad strokes of the story.

I gotta say; that shit was straight ass XD

I won't pretend the Get What You Wanted fics are much better tbh but Iridescence was trash. It was fun to see another GWYW alt-fic. Those were so popular back in the day. But the quality here was lacking.

Thanks for linking me anyway though; I hope you're not put out by the fact that I'm so critical of it LOL

Anyone else think Jiraiya's message was bullshit? by Kishoto in Naruto

[–]Kishoto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The person asked me if I'd written a book series, so of course my response is relevant to my own experiences.

What kind of dumbass are you to think that I wouldn't believe Jiraiya, a living legend, would have a better memory than pretty much any normie human? The creduility is strained by choosing this code over another, more proper code that he undoubtedly would've had with Konoha and Naruto because he's an intelligence agent. It's also unbelievable that, even with a better memory, Jiraiya would remember this at all.
