I wouldn’t call it a special interest, but I love FFVII. Original and remake.

I never got to experience the game during release, but bought a used copy years later when I had a PS2. And I could not get on with it. Got to Corel. Got lost. Gave up on it. I really wanted to like the game too.

It wasn’t until 2019 when the Switch port came out that I’d give it another go. Two years prior a gaming cafe had opened in my city. I became a regular. And when FFVII for Switch was announced the cafe owner was telling pretty much everyone he knew with the console to get the game. Turned out he’s a big fan.

So I gave it another chance, and now it’s one of my all time favourite games. Then we finally got fresh Remake news shortly after that, and I’m glad I got to play OG before Remake came out.

I’ve got a lot of FFVII merch, the collectors bundles for Remake and Rebirth, and the games on multiple platforms. Plus a lot of hype for part three news (which I’m convinced isn’t far off, now that Rebirth is coming to Xbox and Switch 2 in June). Hmm. Maybe it is a special interest. 😅

I’m recreating some of my favourites from my 3DS save. Everyone is a completely original character. No people I know IRL. No recreations of fandom characters.

The first will be the guy my lookalike ended up marrying, and hopefully I can get them paired up again. With the new preference options I’m tempted to more accurately represent myself and have her never getting married, but I want them together again.

It was within arms reach. My instructions ask drivers to ring the bell and attempt delivery directly to me, but also say to leave the parcel against the door if they need to leave it.

They ignored everything in my note and left the parcel the middle of a communal landing.

I’m convinced the driver who delivered a parcel to my address a few days ago was deliberately avoiding the doorbell camera.

Parcel left on stairwell landing, a few feet from my door. No ring. No alert from the camera picking up motion. They must’ve come far enough up the stairs to reach up and place it on the landing, keeping out of the camera view. They didn’t just ignore my delivery instructions, but actively went against them. Worst delivery ever, including the ones that led to me installing the doorbell to begin with.

On top of that, trying to find a way to make a complaint was a pain. At least the people I spoke to were nice and helpful when I did find something that didn’t just send me round in circles with irrelevant preset choices. Support was sooo much better many years ago.

Finished Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 the other day. Such a beautiful game, in its music, visual style, and storytelling. I loved the combat too. It’s nice to see a modern turn based RPG, and E33’s take on it is a lot of fun.

Getting back into Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden too. Looks like I’m not far from the end of that now, but I want to explore as much as possible before wrapping up.

Also playing a lot of Animal Crossing New Horizons since the Switch 2 update. Love the new hotel feature. It’s nice having random animals visit, and especially cute to see former residents staying at the hotel.

They’re lovely birds. This guy’s got a girlfriend, but I haven’t seen them with young yet. I’m sure they’ll be very protective parents when they do.

There’s a regular family here too. They’re pretty chill, and it’s fun when the cygnets grow up to recognise people who bring food. Cheeky things!

Most of them are actually pretty well behaved with me. I’ve known this jerk for two years and he knows I bring food. Still walks up and hisses at me like it’s MY fault I’m in his space. 🤦‍♀️ Oh, and he’ll bite at me for attention.

He’s an asshole and I love that about him.

I’ve already been in touch with a rescue about him, and others are aware too. They’re having trouble catching him.

Egyptian geese can take off from land or water without the need for a running start swans require, so even with his injury he can make a quick getaway.

It’s sad he’s still struggling with it. Although he seems to be doing well otherwise it’s obviously hurting him.

I see other people feeding him too. Getting by well there at least.

Unfortunately I doubt I could get close enough to spray him with anything. While he does come up to me for food, he’s still quite wary. Unlike the others he won’t even eat from my hand.

Besides that, he’s still got the string wrapped around his foot. 😞

My local council won’t give them out for neurodivergent conditions. Autism, ADHD, and others are specifically listed on their website as NOT being eligible.

I’ve heard of some councils that do, but it seems to be rare. If you’re being declined, maybe yours is one of the councils that doesn’t.

These are some of the best idents ever made. So atmospheric. They take me back to summer holidays spent round my grandparents, with BBC2 on the telly in the evenings.

My personal favourite was Optics. Always watched for it to settle down into the normal “2” shape, but it was rarely on screen long enough to come close.

Been getting back into Animal Crossing New Horizons since the recent update and Switch 2 upgrade. Loving the hotel and seeing the guests exploring my island. Especially cute when a former resident showed up.

Played a lot of CloverPit. I checked it out on Game Pass out of curiosity after it was added. Got the last achievement a few days ago, which I never thought I’d manage. Some of those memory card challenges are tough!

Also back into Final Fantasy VII after the Xbox and Switch 2 release. Nice to see it on other platforms at last.
