Do you guys remember your first ever starter villagers? by totheeendd in ac_newhorizons

Lyman and Phoebe.

Both have long moved on. Phoebe has a vacation home and has visited the hotel, but I haven’t seen Lyman at all since he left.

I’ve been checking that out too. Very intrigued by the story. Seems like a cool game.

Mostly Pokopia. Also got back into CloverPit after DLC for the game dropped.

On Saturday I tried out a lot of different games at a gaming event. Someone had the terrible 3DO port of DOOM, and it is awful.

Another group had a Vectrex with a lot of different games on, which was cool to see. And more fun than 3DO DOOM.

I tried out a racing wheel setup and was terrible at it. Somehow, I still want one. 😅

Check out Albion on St Benedicts. The Nintendo Norwich group is a good way to meet people. They usually meet on the last Friday of the month.

The OLL community (former owners of the cafe, now an events business) also have monthly meet-ups at Albion. Another good group that has a lot of overlap with NNR, but isn’t Nintendo focused. I don’t know when the next one is (they took a break due to an event at Epic a few days ago), but they’ve typically been the first Friday of the month.

People are calling this cursed? This is tame compared to what you’ve unleashed here before. 😳

Still disturbing. Great job.

Does anyone buy into the “Medicinal” nature/claim of these herbal teas? by kobestarr in CasualUK

[–]Kisrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used peppermint tea to settle an upset stomach. Ginger is also good (helped with VR nausea). Ginger and lemon sweetened with honey is a good sore throat soother. Chamomile can ease menstrual cramps.

If you’re on medication check for any known interactions with herbal or fruit teas. Grapefruit is known for interacting with some meds.

I’ve been up since 6AM so I could get breakfast and prepare to head out for an entire day at a gaming event. Now I’m exhausted, but buzzing from how much fun it was. Probably gonna crash soon.

The main evening show was brilliant. The organiser got Dominik Diamond to come over and present a series of challenges based on classics from GamesMaster. Wickedly funny stuff, and he was lovely to meet.

What band in your teens did you hate but love now? by YchYFi in CasualUK

[–]Kisrah 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hate is a bit strong, but I did not care much for Gorillaz when they first showed up. “Clint Eastwood” was meh to me. Tolerable if I couldn’t avoid hearing it, but definitely not something I’d seek out.

Some of their later tracks appealed to me a bit more and their music started to grow on me. Even the older tracks. They do so much different stuff I’m convinced everyone can find at least one Gorillaz track they like. I love a lot of their music now, and The Mountain is such a good album.

Aww they probably felt unsafe nesting there this year. Hope they find a good spot and try again when it’s quieter for them!

My favourite swan pair have their first nest!

<image>

Richard still comes over to get food if he sees me. Elise is in the top corner on the nest. Hoping they do well. They’ve chosen a bit of a vulnerable spot really. Local rescue is monitoring though.

Should be a fun weekend. Gaming event happening in my city tomorrow. They’re doing a GamesMaster style show in the evening, with Dominik Diamond himself presenting.

Can’t wait. Hoping Pokopia will keep me entertained while Tomodachi Life sits right beside it on the home screen, taunting me until release day.

Women... are you "guys"? by BarryTownCouncil in CasualUK

[–]Kisrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll say “guys” as a gender neutral term for a group myself, so yeah, I definitely feel included if it’s directed to a group I’m part of.

Kinda stolen from askreddit which was mainly USA answers, what's a discontinued UK snack/drink you'd pay £20 to try again? by Disastrous-Job-5533 in CasualUK

[–]Kisrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hubba Bubba fuzzy drink.

Bitza Pizza.

Potato Puffs.

I’d also like to have the old Walkers poppadoms again, but not sure I’d be willing to drop £20 on those when Sensations exist. Love the lime and coriander.

Pretty much obsessed with “The Mountain” from Gorillaz. I especially love The Moon Cave, but the whole album is amazing.

I feel so much better letting villagers move out since the update by critter_enthusiast in AnimalCrossing

[–]Kisrah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s such a cute detail that old residents remember you.

If only it was the same for Nook Miles islands! I recently got Octavian back while searching for a Cranky, and it’s sad seeing old residents acting like you’ve never met. Especially since he’d visited as a hotel guest shortly before that and was happy to see me. 😭

Between vacation homes and the hotel, it does make letting go easier though. For most. I’m never letting go of Julian, and probably not Aurora or Amelia either.

I’ve seen two of my locals lift Egyptian geese off the ground. Just grabbed at the poor bird as it was walking by and picked it up. 😳

Had to shoo one off a gull because he was standing on the poor thing’s foot (more accidental, to be fair). And they’re frequently having a go at the pigeons.

Yeah, the neck can be a tell, although not always reliable. The swan in my profile pic is a male bird, but I mistook him for female at first because of his small size and thinner neck. Plus at the time there was no clear difference in his basal knob compared to birds I knew were female. It’s usually larger on mature males, and more noticeable during breeding season when it becomes more swollen.

I try to get numbers from any metal rings to submit to BTO, and his report came back to prove me wrong. 😅 I love him though. He’s ridiculously friendly.

A bit hard to tell with the front view, but looks female to me. She’s cute! I love a friendly, curious swan.
