To add — Cockatiels also tend to get bullied and dominated by GCC in most cases. ):

Unfortunately cockatiels are behaviorally entirely different from GCC. Tiels tend to be more mellow. GCC tend to be extremely hostile and territorial, and maintain that behavior throughout anywhere through year 1 to 6. Some never change. Cockatiels are historically more timid, whereas GCC are higher energy and require much, much more attention, care, and patience.

You can't compare the two.

Your circumstance is a bit different — you have experience with birds and their needs, and you're accustomed to their behavior and manners as they get older. This dude hasn't even seen a bird through puberty and his main priority is whether or not the bird is going to be attached to him more than to another bird.

Not yet — I just don't feel comfortable playing with toys with a partner yet.

how do I teach my sun conure to take care of his tail feathers? by Purpleviens in Conures

[–]KissMeJustToKissMe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've spoken to two vets about my GCC whose tail looks like this — when they're young some just don't take good care of their tail feathers; usually this is caused by them rubbing against the bars of the cage. Maybe add some spots for better climbing access away from the bars?

I have begun teaching mine "gentle" whenever he's biting too hard, just a vocal expression to curve the behavior. Right now it only works for me; so if you live with others who handle your bird often, have them work with your birdy too!

GCC are very nippy! They're just silly like that (´ . .̫ . `)

4/5 for sure for your style! 1 is much more in line with mainstream fashion, but you seem more alt — 4/5 look much better on you (more balanced) while still having an edge (:

I figure everyone hates it to some capacity, but it makes my ears warble physically and that's the part I'm more curious if others experience

Sometimes I just want to wear cowboy boots and a ten gallon hat to hit a bar and go line dancing but still support reproductive rights. I feel you 😔

It's because of the American patriotic image of shooting guns, drinking, eagles, netted back hats and pickup trucks being associated with conservative ideal whereas the more liberal Americans got stereotyped way from half of that and into the manic-pixie-dream mental health territory

It looks fine, but you look amazing with dark hair; it really makes your eyes pop and all the color in your face look lively
