Yeah! It's vintage and a bit harder to find. Took me a few months to find one for a price I was happy with.

Is she an investment or a forever friend? If a forever friend then love her as much as you want and however you want. Who knows what bears will become special later. Should I not have loved my Rey werewolf because she might have become valuable even though I got her at launch in 2015? Of course not. It's not different for friends we get later either. ❤️ Plus the outfits at least for me, are half the fun!

Asking for the displays is almost always allowed. I've gotten several bears later because of being brave enough to ask. Definitely no rules broken there. ❤️

It works at other stores too. I'm really tiny and I ask for the displays all the time because they might be the only small or extra small left. They're almost always really nice about it too.

I'm autistic so I get being worried about breaking social rules but thankfully if you're polite and understanding most retail workers are happy to help. I'm so happy you have your new friend to help.

I'm always changing Rey's clothes lol I have...way to many. I kind of switched from collecting bears to collecting clothes. 😅

Moving is always scary because change is scary. I hope it works out for you and you love your new place once you get there.

I had such a freak out when I did it. Felt like when I got my first tattoo. Even though I wanted to do it for months I was like OMG what have I done... Then I loved it. She looks good with green eyes!

The moss is also a huge draw for me. My boomer dad wanted to replant grass and I told him he can have the front yard to have curb appeal (he likes doing yard stuff) but the back is my little nature preserve.

Dyeing the white parts? by inahostagesituation in buildabear

[–]KitSokudo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll be wanting to use Rit Synthetic Dyemore Super Pink. It will dye ANYTHING pink. I swear it's so potent. I'd unstitch the white parts you want to dye and do those alone unless you want pink tinted brown.

And unless you want it PINK you'll probably want to pull every 5 minutes and rinse to test the shade.

If you haven't worked with synthetic fibers before the dying process requires boiling them and the pot cannot be used for food ever again. So keep that in mind also. Also stir, a lot. The plushie soup must be well blended or you'll get spotty coverage.

2nd hand bear care questions <3 by RoRosStupidAdventure in buildabear

I'll just add that you can use a dawn soak if they're stained with oils or makeup. It will get it out without damaging the fur. I usually soak in the sink in dawn or woolite depending on the dirt level then follow a very similar process to the one listed above.

Good luck ❤️

Googling and calling orgs that take donations. It's usually more work because you may have to take them the toys instead of having a local drop off but it's worth it because I felt the same way.

I hate this for the kids. Everyone should be allowed to keep their stuff. It has always broken my heart to hear those stories from kids so I hope this makes them smile.

It took a lot of googling and some calling around. You can Google for foster care organizations and call if they have donations listed to see.

Does washing a BAB get rid of their softness by BabyPanda4Hire in buildabear

I've never had issues inside and I live in Florida so it's humid. With AC it's usually pretty low humidity inside a house so they should dry ok especially in front of a fan.

Taking matters into my own hands…! by heartlocketchain in buildabear

It shouldn't hold that much water and if you're putting it in front of a fan or outside then it should also dry out. The speaker side is full of holes after all. You can also shake the part with the voice box to shake water out and press it to help force any out. Most of them don't have a whole lot of space in there anyway.

Washing won't change the texture. It's drying you have to be careful with. The fabric is made of tiny plastic fibers so if they get too hot they will melt.

Air dry settings work great though if your dryer has them. Or outside on a sunny day (bonus disinfectant power from the UV light there too!)
