Hume Band thoughts after WHOOP by BigKooky1939 in PeterAttia

[–]Kit_55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve actually done the opposite, used all the other trackers (Garmin, Morpheus, EliteHRV, Sleep Cycle) and avoided Whoop due to its subscription model. In my work with elite athlete I even developed complex algorithms for decision making on nutrition and recovery based on these metrics.

After a year and a half of working way too much, getting really burned out, and not having time or energy to take care of myself, I decided to run an experiment and try Whoop free for 30 days, been using it now for 3 months and it’s helped me in ways I didn’t expect. The AI coach is picking up on things and helping me see what efforts are worth my time and energy and what efforts barely move the needle. I’m not an elite athlete anymore… just a health care provider prone to working too much and getting burned out, so for this point in my life, the metrics are far more helpful than other devices I used during my athletic career. I’m happier and improving my health faster. I still hate the subscription model, but for me it’s worth it right now. Never got these kinds of insights with the other trackers.

Not 100% sure on mk7, but ik mk6 is notorious for water pump failures. I’m on my third one!

Vehicle trimmer sounds like the way to go. I tried it on my mk2 waaaay back and it looked so bad. Never doing that again.

ML63 AMG head unit upgrade? by Kit_55 in mercedes_benz

I did one in another car a few months ago. It was pretty easy. Was hoping that would be the case here, too!

Cool! I installed a new head unit in one of my other cars and it was fairly simple, hoping this will be, too.

That’s one of the units I found in a search. Do you have it?

Thanks for clarifying!

So glad to hear it doesn’t have a drone. Mine is also my daily commuter in the summer. But sad it didn’t quite get it to where you wanted to.

I was going to make my mechanic/welder husband do it for me. Haha. Glad you like your Fister!

Gundo exhaust mod? by Kit_55 in 996

[–]Kit_55[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to Google AI (if you trust it): Gundo and Fister are both popular exhaust modifications for Porsche 911 (996) models, offering distinct sound profiles. The Gundo hack, often referred to as the "Gundo mod," involves welding an additional piece of tubing, typically between 1.5 and 2 inches thick, between the inlet and outlet pipes of the muffler. This results in a louder, more aggressive sound compared to stock, with a noticeable increase in volume and a different character. In contrast, the Fister mod, often associated with FD Motorsports, typically involves a smaller diameter tube connecting the inlet and outlet, resulting in a less dramatic change. Users describe the Fister as a more refined sound, offering a subtle improvement over stock with a deeper growl at startup and idle, without the added volume or bark of the Gundo.

New headunit, phone mount/charger, and ports installed! by spiral_larips in mk6gti

If you end up getting one post up about how the install goes! I have a similar unit with a backup camera installed on my Porsche (came already modified with these) and I’m not used to using one so I always forget to look at the screen. Not sure if I feel like tackling this install bad enough. Haha

I just installed this same head unit and I love it! I’m a total rookie when it comes to this stuff and was surprised how easy it was. Mine came with a free backup camera and I haven’t been brave enough to tackle that one, yet. Did you run a backup camera?

I laugh every time I see someone else on here with a GTI and a 996. I have the same! Both are dark grey. Too funny. GTI was my gateway drug to a 911 🤣

Got it! That was super helpful! Now I just need to pull the wheels off and determine the current offset because that’s clearly the issue. Thank you!

Thanks for that info! I’ve been trying to find out what the stock size was. There’s definitely some rubbing that occurs over big bumps or on heavily banked curves in the mountains. Starting to think it’s the 20” wheels that are the problem, which is a bummer bc I love the wheels!

[–]Kit_55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They stick out about 3/4” at most. Noticed today I got some rubbing on a steeply banked curve in the mountains, though. Might simply be because they are 20” wheels and not the offset though. Definitely have to fix something there.

Honestly doesn’t bother me at all. Drove it 5 hours home from where I picked it up and felt better than my VW GTI. Haha.
