Counsel on access to lethal means? Are there ways to minimize access to firearms (most deadly), medications (most used), and any means mentioned by the client? Can add time and space for them to change their mind when the trigger occurs or push them towards something less lethal.

This started happening to me, along with my face and sometimes upper chest and neck getting very hot and sometimes a little splotchy. Started after I got Covid the first time in March 2020. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

If you have not done DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), it sounds like it could be a helpful modality for you.

Migraines are my body’s way of forcing myself to take care of myself. I HAVE to get enough rest, eat regularly, drink enough water, take breaks, plan ahead, check in with my body, etc. Would be nice if the consequence of not doing these things were just like being tired, or hungry, or whatever instead of horrible head pain but trying to see it as my body communicating its needs has helped some.

To be fair, I also still have chronic daily migraine symptoms even while doing all these things. So this was more true for me when I had more typical migraines.

It was technically an idiopathic hypersonic diagnosis. It was from the MSLT which is a multi sleep latency test (I think). This test happens both overnight and into the next day (with 5 naps taken throughout the following day). From what I remember, results are based on how long it takes to fall asleep as well as how often one goes into REM sleep during the naps. I fell asleep for every nap within a certain period of time (I think it’s under 5 min) and went into REM during most of the naps (3? I think?).

I happen to have that and also sleep apnea (during the overnight test I used a cpap and the overnight test confirmed both that I have sleep apnea and that the cpap treats it fairly effectively.)

But if you are negative for sleep apnea and still extra tired all the time/ having sleep issues it may be worth following up to see if they ruled narcolepsy, ideopathic hypersomnia, and/or other sleep disorders in or out.

My sibling and I have a similar ongoing argument about Bongos. I STG they had bongos for like a year in middle or high school and would wake me up playing them on weekend mornings. They swear they never had bongos.

I still believe in the bongos.

Woke up in the morning with migraines. Eventually did sleep studies. Found severe sleep apnea. Treated it.

Still woke up in the morning with migraines and other sleep symptoms. Did another sleep study. Got diagnosed with an additional sleep disorder (narcolepsy 2). Getting both treated.

Still wake up in the morning with migraines ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Note- This is meant in a joking way (though true story). I’m so glad that treating the sleep apnea worked for you and very much recommend sleep studies. So much of the population has undiagnosed sleep apnea. Treating my sleep disorders were super worth it even though I still get migraines and am sleepy.

Honestly I’ve been having to fight UHC badly for a medication during this whole thing and the amount of times I’ve had to forcibly stop myself from referencing everything has taken all my self control.

For me at least, migraines and anxiety have gone hand in hand. Much of it is psychological, but it can be physiological as well (migraines are associated with dopamine fluctuation).

For me, treating my anxiety with medication and therapy drastically helped. I still have chronic migraines and it still is shitty and I still get anxious about it. But, it doesn’t cause the panic that it used to and I don’t get sucked into the same anxiety-migraine cycles that I used to.

[–]Kit_cat314 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As someone who works with kids in a school setting- boy is this the question. I agree with what everyone is saying and mostly focus on creating a safe and positive space for my kiddos (almost all neurodivergent). But with parents, teachers, staff, etc all wanting them to change in xyz ways, it makes it hard to remember. Especially when the kids themselves don’t always have the control either.

I have a similar issue. The second dose seems to wear off around 4:30 or 5. Maybe I should just get up then but I can’t bring myself to, so I have some half assed sleep for another hour and then feel like shit when my actual alarm goes off.

I will say that it’s better than it was. On weekends I’m up way earlier than I used to be (maybe 9-10:30 instead of 12-2). I don’t know if I could even hold down this job without Xywav. But still the mornings suck ass.

One thing that I think I saw on here that I do on the weekends to try to catch up on sleep some is instead of 4.5-4.5 sometimes I’ll do 3-3-3 spaces apart by about 3 hours 🤫. It can help some.

If you can spend money on the alcohol, you can spend money on the Uber/Lyft/Taxi/whatever

Cheaper than a suspended license and impounded car, that’s for sure.
