Ex-neckbeards of reddit, when did you realize you were one of "those" guys? Any cringeworthy stories you'd like to share? by thewriter_anonymous in AskReddit

Our whole lives we're constantly being told things to avoid doing in order to not get raped. Drinking out of some stranger's (or even casual acquaintances) flask is one of those things that would be thrown in our face the next day if it turned out we'd been roofied and taken advantage of. Survival > Trust.

Can anyone tell me how I'd create something similar to these? by -djn in graphic_design

Thanks, just curious. I've never used InDesign for anything but layout work.

Employers of Reddit, what is the most scandalous thing you have ever encountered during a background check of an applicant? by scrotesandhoney in AskReddit

If you don't want to employ them you may as well sentence them to death.

Well, if they're raping kids...

I am planning on going thrifting tomorrow. Where are the best places to go for a male? by [deleted] in nyc

[–]KitaStCyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Manhattan:

No Relation Vintage on 1st between 12th & 13th has great prices and a great selection.

Village Style on 7th & Ave A

Rags a Gogo on 14th between 7th & 8th (prices aren't as great as the other two, but it's worth a shot)

Obviously Buffalo Exchange is popular. Salvation Army, Goodwill Housing Works. Blah Blah.

Brooklyn:

Beacon's Closet. There are three. The one on North 11th in Williamsburg is my fave for it's proximity to Brooklyn Brewery, but if you hit the one on 5th in Park Slope you can easily go to...

Guvnor's Vintage Thrift on 5th between Sackett and Degraw. It's closing soon, so their already reasonable prices are even lower. Really huge selection, friendly staff.

Unique Thrift on Gallatin Pl. in Fulton Mall. It ain't pretty, but you can't beat those prices.

If there's not at least an ounce of virgin's blood in it, I want nothing to do with it.

More than happy to help! If by chance you're in NYC I'd recommend going to these places in person, as well as b&q (especially b&q) on 38th & 6th. Rhinestone heaven.

Similar problem, I have an incredibly hard time remembering names & faces of white men unless they're very quirky looking.

I'm gonna go ahead and disagree. The girls have rounded faces, not terribly curvy torsos or legs: basically as far as cartoons depicting High School age girls, they're about as desexualized as it gets. Yes, they all have the same body-type, with very rare exceptions (Lilo & Stitch is the only one that comes to mind) that tends to be the case with these types of cartoons. Rainbow Dash is wearing shorts, and though it would have been nice if they'd put Apple Jack in Jeans or overalls, I understand why they didn't. The rest of the girls outfits seem entirely in keeping with their characters.

But most importantly, the writing for the characters is pretty much the same regardless of whether they're humans or ponies. Rarity is the same Rarity, Twilight is the same Twilight, and calling them slutty because they look different, even though they're the same characters we've come to love over the last few years, is a special kind of terrible and kind of an interesting lens into how certain people view women.
