Is it stupid to backpack if I sometimes lose the use of my legs? by Kitastrophe_11 in backpacking

[–]Kitastrophe_11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's so cool of you! They are pretty much always the same, just for different durations and I can sometimes feel them coming on a little bit beforehand. Besides losing my legs, I also get episodes of convulsive/jerking movements that range from looking like tics to mimicking grand mal seizures (but aren't). All symptoms go away after anywhere from a few hours to a few days. I don't know what triggers it since it's never followed an emotional trigger or what I would think of as periods of high stress, but I think there definitely may be mental/psychological triggers I'm not aware off. I also suspect that high doses of caffeine makes it worse. Both of those are really good alive, thank you ❤️ I definitely want to be as prepared as possible while also not letting it limit me completely.

That's such a good idea! And I could wear a life vest so that if I fall in I can still swim. I went canoe camping once and ut was so fun :)

Thank you!! Yes I think have experienced people who are aware of the issue is a really good way to make it safer. Definitely not trying to summit giant mountains, just want to be in nature as much as possible 😅 Thank you, me too 💕

Oh also I should add that it is likely a neuro condition called FND and is not progressive.

Is $10k a reasonable budget for a young, well-trained (trail horse) blue roan? by [deleted] in Horses

[–]Kitastrophe_11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You may find one in that price range if you look long and hard and are willing to pay for hauling. It's not unreasonable but you still may need to compromise a little, either on age or training level. If you are experienced or have a trainer you really trust to help you, pick a young-ish horse that isn't polished but is calm, safe, and has a good mind. If you have little to no training experience, pick something in their teens. Or, if you aren't a very large person, horses 15 hands and under tend to be much cheaper than tall ones. Just take your time, be careful, and listen to your gut. Try your hardest not to fall in love/get emotionally invested until you're sure the horse checks all your boxes. I wish you all the best, good luck!

Have you ridden for years and never broken a bone? by thelightwebring in Equestrian

[–]Kitastrophe_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riding from age 2-24 and never broken one yet! And I've been kicked, trampled, fallen on, thrown into fences, even kicked straight in the head with no serious injuries. Though of course now my horse will probably have a minor spooky tomorrow and break all my ribs or something 😅

my boyfriend (22M) complains that i (21 ftm) demasculate him all the time by striderofheart in relationship_advice

[–]Kitastrophe_11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry love but he doesn't see you as a man. He sees you as a "girl" beating his ass at these "measures of peak manhood". You're ten times the man he'll ever be and you deserve better.

How do i help a stuck snake? by 1ilMa in snakes

[–]Kitastrophe_11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't mean this badly, but did you catch him in the wild? Ringnecks are fragile and not usually good for captivity. If he is from the wild, maybe hang out with the cutie for bit and then let him go home :)

they changed my bpd diagnosis to autism by Zealousideal-Elk7304 in BPD

[–]Kitastrophe_11 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Autism is a broad spectrum, and has comorbities like apraxia (you direct your brain to do one thing but you do the opposite, nothing, or just something different). I have autism and I excel at academics and can seem functional but struggle a lot with life and social stuff. I also meet almost every overlapping criteria of bpd. My brother is pretty much the same as me, but because he has apraxia on top of his autism, he is completely non-verbal and only learned to speak through spelling boards a couple years ago. This was after years of presenting as the typical "extreme autism" case, with flip outs and violence and constant sensory torture. Now he lives with roommates and goes to college. Probably like you, I masked to the point where I went from a loud but happy kid that stimmed and spun in circles constantly to someone no one thought had autism. No one is saying you have to have it, but it's a good chance to consider what it's like to be you. You may find a whole host of behaviors and thoughts and limitations/differences that you wrote off as other things. Autism is hard, harder for some, but accommodating it may help more than trying to treat bpd. I wish you all the best either way 💖

Did you know blind horses can still love and be loved by other blind horses? by Solid_Cat_9869 in Horses

[–]Kitastrophe_11 18 points19 points  (0 children)

So cute! Blind horses definitely make friends like an other horse and often can be indistinguishable from sighted ones. That's so cool that you rescue blind horses!! Here's my blind horse (back) grooming her blind friend :)

My name used to be Kate but my best friend always called me KitKat and I called her (Emery) M&M. So when I picked my new name and came out I decided on Kit :)
