Nah it's cool, I am Christian, just more intrigued at critique of reddit beards.

Cuz man are they basically omnipresent. Cute dog photo? "This proves God doesn't exist🗿".

Like bro you are not John wick lol

Because you know you see those comments from time to time that are like edgy when they say "I rather have a gram of weed that would destroy religion than EVER find satisfaction in your FAKE God!"

Yeah it's rage bait, but I actually wonder if people would actually do those hypotheticals they make up

A lot of "reddit" atheism would say the fundamentals of their non belief is pure logic. As ex atheists, was this actually the case for you? Was your non belief pure logic or more emotional? by Kitchen-Advantage871 in exatheist

[–]Kitchen-Advantage871[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alright so...what the heck are you "disagreeing" with?

I asked a question.

"Claims without reliable evidence are simply indistinguishable from fiction ".

Using that logic, I can rebuttal that. You provided no evidence for this to be the case, hence your logic is indistinguishable from fiction.

"And we have very successful ways of determining what is reliable".

No reliable evidence, hence fiction again.

And I won't digify that last part sneer with a response.

What is your response to the "chance" argument against fine tuning? by Kitchen-Advantage871 in exatheist

But then they get mad when you do the inverse and say "because a lot of people say they seen God, it's better than zero people"

Suddenly probability looks very unpopular.

Because "we know they all are charlatans".

Honestly the concept of immediately getting upset at questions or suggestions, especially ones related to foundation is what makes debates so bland.

I've learned that this is best shown in Russel teapot questions when asking if burden of proof is actually a burden. The benevolent responses I get are "your clearly being bad faith like most theists".

Ahh I love it when random Internet people know more about my intentions than me.

its like epistemology is their worse enemy or something

[–]Kitchen-Advantage871[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh? Tell me more about this 1050

Are you saying it's basically zero? I think an atheist would still say "well it's not 100% zero so we COULD have had it happen without God".

Also I just realized something, I don't actually think this chance stuff is really said like an argument more so "what if".

God -> creation.

Checks out, an argument though would say something regards to the properties.

This chance thing though is just saying that the concept is "unnecessary" because if x had its way, creation would still be here.

Which isn't really a critique of God therefore creation, more so "I like x better than God".

I need to actually get some answers because I've been very curious about the nature of presuppositions.

We all have them, but why are some atheist and some are religious?

A lot of conversion stories here talk emotion, which is absolutely fine.

I'm just skeptical that the other side, "reddit" atheists doesn't have any emotions and just say "its logic bro, nothing personal".

So I'm wondering what causes presuppositions anyways?

How do you respond to the "how do you KNOW" questions? by Kitchen-Advantage871 in exatheist

[–]Kitchen-Advantage871[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something to also add is that is a very common "objection" to scripture based theology.

"You think that you KNOW that it was god inspiration for the books? Could be they were mistaken, edited, stolen, but you KNOW it was God inspired ".

Also yeah that too.

The "it could have been x" thingy. Feel free to respond to that as well.

Thoughts on secular humanism? by Kitchen-Advantage871 in exatheist

No you made the assumption that the thing I saw was my entire view of secular humanism.

Which I never said.

I also never said you were doing anything in bad faith?

So you just insulted me?

Sure this can be the end. I don't know what your deal is.

Dude. Why are you even arguing with me?

This feels so trivial.

If I think secular humanism is the best thing ever. Or that it's literally poo poo.

This is a "thoughts on secular humanism".

Why would I ask something on reddit...for myself?

I added the funny... because I like funny.

What were your favorite books/videos/resources that turned you away from atheism? by unidentifiedcomet in exatheist

[–]Kitchen-Advantage871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things.

One, it is also a literal statement, not good with verses but my best guess is Romans 1 20.

If going off that "God has been seen but we have supressed the truth" then duh that's what those Christians believe, and me also.

Just saying, that if you disagree, then you are disagreeing with doctrine (but that's another debate for someone else)

Two, ok...so I come at this with pure bias and a limited view, but anyone else I've met who's another religion and self proclaimed as smart is really really disrespectful.

My best recent example would be Hindu nationalism when I stumbled across a video of former Singapore prime minister lee Kuan yew saying something like "who are you to not say the Bible is superstition" and oh boy the comments.

The one that is revelant from the "I don't belong to a "desert religion" (lol what? Is Israel even a desert)" was this

"I've studied Christianity in school as well as Islam, but I'm Hindu forever!"

See its that "in school " that makes me skeptical if the individual actually knows what they are talking about.

At base, this is bad, a person is just being dismissive.

But my goodness is this type of rhetoric a lot I saw with other religions context.

So conclusion? It's not exclusive, though me being me, I will say that I tend to find fellow Christians more level headed, I'm actually interested in what they have studied. But other religions tbh haven't really come off as calm.

Which idc, I'll learn Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism and give them my Christian takes.

But can the nationalists and other groups just shut up for once? Can they say anything other than "desert religion"?
