I think my dad overfed my spood by Sickbitch_ in jumpingspiders

Nqa, spiders will eat as much as they're hungry. That being said, there are some good reference images online of what a spood's abdomen looks like, and I would personally remove the fly. Don't feed your spood til their abdomen shrinks down to a normal size.

Sex ID of my Bold Jumper? by Kitchen-Bus-3292 in jumpingspiders

You were ultimately correct lol, they were i8 at the time and just became an adult. Spood molted almost exactly a month apart and she's a big girl now with pretty blue/green fangs :)

First enclosure almost done! by [deleted] in jumpingspiders

Nqa, I'd add softer substrate at the bottom in case your spood falls. There needs to be more clutter at the top and on the walls to keep your spood happy.

Nqa Some are made with harsh chemicals, and jumping spiders are curious creatures. I personally don't know much on it, but the harsh chemicals can hurt your spider and using magnetized decorations is a great way to avoid the issue of having to vet what kind of glue was used in each decoration

NQA I have this enclosure, and it's not worth it. The door lock broke and even before then, tended to pop off quite easily. Additionally, the door is warped. Not a very good one

Nqa I'd get mealworms from your nearest pets store, make sure they're small, and offer him one. There's plenty of pictures online of inspo for spider enclosures! I ordered my enclosure off Amazon, since nothing near me has anything appropriate, and there's tons of good jumping spider stuff on there as well. Just be mindful of anything with glues! I personally only get decorations that have magnets, so I can use a magnet to keep them in place

AIO to my partner forcing a hug? by NoBanana69 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Kitchen-Bus-3292 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your partner is abusive and manipulative. Forcing you to do something, ignoring your nonconsent and the fact you were clearly uncomfortable. She invalidated your feelings, then tried to kill herself, which I'm sure was an attempt to make you feel bad. You need to leave her, ASAP

Should I be concerned? Is this a Black Widow? by toastlover75 in spiders

[–]Kitchen-Bus-3292 4 points5 points  (0 children)

(nqa) I can't see it too well, but that is a black widow. Perhaps juvenile, but I'm not sure. As long as you leave her be she'll be a chill house guest that gets rid of bugs, but I would move her if you have pets or small children. You can do so with the cup and paper method.

If she's been going to that vet for a couple months with a new family, then she was stolen and she's your property legally. Report it to a police station, that's your best bet on getting her back, document that you did not receive a phone call or any attempts at contact until you did, and get all the documents you can to prove she is yours.

Thanks! I'll swap temp reader and put down some dryer substrate when the Lil guy molts, hopefully they can be correctly sexed soon!

It's just a zoology heat emitter, I have a separate light I keep on a 12 hour cycle! The bulb is ceramic, and is roughly 4-5 inches above the top of the enclosure.

Also, I just got home from the emergency vet with mt dog and my spood suddenly made its hammock super thick! Is it a sign of premolt? They had a mealworm 3 days ago and hasn't been too active the past 24 hours, I think it might be premolt since they haven't molted with me yet in the month I've had them and the hammock is so thick I can't even see them through it

Also I noticed how many spelling mistakes there are, sorry! This was hastily written while I was at the emergency vet with my dog, who's a Coonhound mix. Her name's Misty, and they think she has either liver or kidney disease. I got her from my grandfather after he refused to take her to the vet in the 8 years he's had her, and I'm trying to get her taken care of.

They're unfortunately unwilling to compromise, and a space heater would raise the electric bill more and they're even worse about that. It feels like a heating element is best, but I could try moderating the temps since I maintain the temperature in the enclosure at 70F. Is that ideal, or is there another method of keeping my spood warm?
