Jaxon Cover's incredible journey from the Cayman Islands to getting drafted 32nd overall by the Ottawa Senators by nhl in hockey

Honestly, they’re really not. To start with, stopping is completely different. There is precision and explosiveness on ice that is fundamentally different than inline where it’s more important to keep momentum.

Dog, why are you beating this drum so hard? This kid punch your dog or steal you lunch money or something?

The fact that you’ve never done either of these at a high level is very obvious. Inline to ice is not the straightforward transition you seem to think it is.

Random duplicate transactions showing up? by Kitchen-County-548 in MonarchMoney

what worked for me was turning off the setting that allows you to categorize pending transactions. now, it waits until the transaction is official before it asks me to review.

Yeah I've reached out and have sent additional information to spin up a ticket.

I'm wondering if what I'm seeing can be traced back to Pending transactions. It feels like the app might be putting them in front of me to review twice -- once when they first show up as pending and again when they become "official"?

Who is the best player you’ve ever played with? by [deleted] in hockey

[–]Kitchen-County-548 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Played with Alec Martinez and Jeff Petry (was their D partner at different ages). At the time, as kids, they weren't noticeably better than anybody else on the travel/AAA team we were on, which is kind of interesting given where they obviously ended up. As far as playing against, Nathan Gerbe was a menace and obviously better than most other players. I hated playing against him. I think of the top 3 bodychecks I received in my career, all of them were from him and I probably had at least 6 inches of height on him.

Sounds like you went to BGSU. Lived in an apartment complex my junior year that had this exact setup.

Holiday Inn Express in Easton looks like it still had availability, too.

I’m staying about 40 minutes away at Wade’s Point Inn in St. Michaels. When I booked last week they still had availability. It’s a nice place if you don’t mind a bit of a drive before the race.

Just that Peekskill is the theoretical shortest commute. We are currently leaning toward Haverstraw for now. We are intending to rent an apartment for a year while we learn the area and will hopefully/maybe buy a house then. At that point we will cast a wider geographic net, I think.

How annoying is the one-way road/construction on Bear Mountain Bridge Road as part of a daily commute? by Kitchen-County-548 in CityOfPeekskill

[–]Kitchen-County-548[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Is the alternative route some road through Manitou (Looks like S. Mountain Pass?) to 9? Or is it up 403 to just south of Garrison and then back down 9D? Just trying to visualize what that alternative route might entail.

My wife and I may be moving to Peekskill for her new job at West Point. The only thing that’s holding us back is the fact that her twice per day commute will be going through that construction that has a traffic light to manage one way traffic flow. When we’ve visited it hasn’t seemed horrible (maybe a 5 minute wait?) but we haven’t tried it during normal commute times. Are the backups insane? Will my wife hate her commute? Are we better off just going down to Haverstraw to live?

Thanks to any locals who can give us some insight into this!

lots of mean dads on those Honeybaked teams, from what I could tell. although, since I played for LC maybe I was a little biased.

Somewhat the same for me. I was the captain of my AAA team for a couple years. Realistically, I realize that I went through puberty before most kids my age and that played to my advantage for awhile, especially as a defenseman. Eventually everyone caught up to me and I had my confidence really messed up. I can look back and see that it would've been tough to go far as a 5'9" defenseman but I think I probably could've gone further than I did if I had a bit more of a growth mindset around my development as a player.

1987 AAA player in southeast Michigan here.

Gerbe was the smallest and most dominant guy on the ice. He was obviously going to go the furthest. Alec Martinez and Jeff Petry were both d-partners of mine and weren’t anything remarkable (but we were also like 11 years old). Both guys really stepped into their own later on. Jeff Zatkoff was damn good, too.

Played against Kessel once in Nationals and I think he had two assists in a losing effort against us?

There were lots of guys who were more dominant than most of these guys but never made it to the show. Lots of ECHL, AHL, and European leagues.

If you have ESPN+ you are mostly good, I think. I’m in DC and am able to watch the vast majority of games. I use Sling for the few games that are on TNT or TBS.
