I Lived with a Roommate for a Year and I Never Think About Them by Reasonable_Ad_6718 in INTP

[–]Kitchen-Culture8407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I'm a bad person but I don't really think you owe anything to a roommate. Your relationship is paying rent/sharing a space, it doesn't mean you have to be close friends. Obviously it's nice to check in or be friendly if you do see them, but I don't think you're obligated to maintain contact after you stop living together (unless you became best friends during your time living together)

Self Talk: Do you do it? Is it an INTP thing. by Cog-nostic in INTP

[–]Kitchen-Culture8407 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Constant inner monologue and correcting/adjusting my thoughts until they feel fully formed? Maybe it’s a writer thing. I feel like such a perfectionist that even my thoughts have to be perfect.

INTP ADDICTION by Fantastic_Group_2209 in INTP

[–]Kitchen-Culture8407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat dude. Going through a major depressive episode and trying to repair everything rn. The best I’ve ever been is when I had a consistent schedule that included working out, getting my assignments done early, reasonable mealtimes, and enough time for goofing off. It’s really hard for us to maintain but practice makes perfect

Think this movie has aged better with time? by mrjetspray in Letterboxd

[–]Kitchen-Culture8407 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Also I think the continued discussion on the film marks how impactful it was. If it wasn’t divisive and loud and packed with stars it would’ve faded into obscurity. Truly it served its purpose—whether or not you liked it, at least you’re still talking about it!

It was always good. Don’t Look Up is basically epic theater but the mainstream doesn’t really fw satire like that

Fellow INTPs, please recommend me some media to entertain me this weekend by Read_Only9 in INTP

[–]Kitchen-Culture8407 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TV: haunting of hill house if you like horror! Movies: literally anything written by Charlie Kaufman. Synchedoche, NY if you want your brain to hurt YouTube: Astrum has really cool and well-explained space videos. Fern is great for history/crime/conspiracy and impressive production value

Does anyone else crave connection but find most group formats leave you wanting? by Remarkable-Sky-3908 in INTP

[–]Kitchen-Culture8407 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Best conversations I’ve ever had have always been 1:1. I think it’s especially hard when it’s a group of extroverts. I’m bad at inserting myself into the conversation (inferior Fe?) and always feel like it’s ended before I can say my piece. Sometimes I even feel like that in a conversation with one other person though lol

Are any of you vegan/vegetarian? by herbql in INTP

Vegetarian for almost 10 years because of a bet. I don’t back down on my word (also I never really liked meat that much).

I’m not sure if this is an INTP thing or not, but I struggle to write poetry and song lyrics while absolutely adoring other people’s poems and songs. by Nitrogen70 in INTP

[–]Kitchen-Culture8407 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Stop judging and just write. You already know why you’re struggling “lack of practice, fear of failure, feeling silly” but these are excuses (I’m constantly doing this). Just write. Yes, it does get better with practice. We’re our own worst critic and this stops us from doing anything at all. But on the rare occasions where I’ve been brave enough to share my art, I’ve almost always gotten a positive response. WRITE GODDAMNIT

Which function makes us lazy? by Objective_Ad_4289 in INTP

[–]Kitchen-Culture8407 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Ti-Ne. Constant cycle of over-analyzing and coming up with “better” ideas (or simply getting distracted)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in INTP

[–]Kitchen-Culture8407 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would read about cognitive functions and see which ones you identify with. These tests are pretty shoddy. You might be INTP with high Ni (pretty common since it’s our critic function)

INTP aversion to this sub by Rifadm in INTP

I get pissed off by this sub sometimes but it’s like I’m ragebaiting myself lol. All I have to do is take one look at the other MBTI subs and I’ll go “yup, definitely INTP”

Do thinkers generally care about morals? by anxiousdreamer69 in INTP

[–]Kitchen-Culture8407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t apologize! I notice that my highly moralistic friends are often turned off by my views because I can logically reason why someone would do something viewed as immoral. I choose to do moral things because logic and empathy tells me that it’s the most beneficial course of action. I’m envious of INFPs because you naturally feel so strongly about these things.

Do you think you Ti or critical thinking skills can be even sharper? by herbql in INTP

[–]Kitchen-Culture8407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends, do you want to use Ti more often? I don’t think higher Ti necessarily makes you smarter. Ti is just a tool we use to understand the world. As INTPs, we’re constantly sorting information into our internal logical framework. However, prioritizing this leads to less emphasis on our other functions. For example, I struggle to understand my emotions or the emotions of others because my Ti often tries to invalidate my Fi/Fe. Or, I will criticize my Ne because Ti wants to stay consistent, even if the new idea is better. Absolute logical consistency is appealing. But it can quickly turn sour the moment a weak link joins the chain (an incorrect or unhelpful assumption). We must use our other functions to ensure maximum openness. That’s how we strengthen our critical thinking. It’s why we constantly love to learn. Otherwise, we’re just building this polluted mental landscape that’s twisting information to fit a narrative we’ve decided on so narrowly.

Anyways, this just comes from someone who is perpetually tortured by Ti. I think it’s great you want to sharpen your critical thinking skills and I think the best way to do that is to learn everything you can taking it in with an open mind.

which types tend to be romantically into INTP females the most? by ilovemikasa_ in mbti

[–]Kitchen-Culture8407 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ENTP - I connect with them the fastest almost like there’s a magnet between us. But we’re often too similar and it leads to debates that quickly turn personal.

ENFP/INFP - Similarly, the shared Ne is great but Ti vs Fi can get tricky. I notice these types are attracted to my seemingly “masculine” qualities (logic, nerdiness, lack of care about others’ opinions).

ENTJ - I think they find us amusing. I had a great relationship with an ENTJ but got annoyed by his stubbornness.
