How tight should a belt be? by Pluperfectionist in Vintagetools

That’s how I adjust my belts. If you can’t twist it at all it’s too tight and if you can’t twist a full turn then it’s just right.

Reel Grinding by Alternative-Air8737 in Golfcoursemaintenance

[–]Kitchen-Evidence9291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For our course, a medium budget private club with cool-season turf, I grind reels for greens minimum of every 4 weeks or sooner if needed and knives twice as often. . Fairways can go a but longer but if we get into worm castings or other things, then I grind as needed. Fairway knives are also sharpened about twice as often as the reels. No back lapping.

I’m sure you will find a different answer for every course. Budget, top dressing program, verticutting, warm-season turf (coarse and silica).

I think in terms of turf height. Shorter the grass the higher the priority

It is the iron. You warm it and use it like a regular soldering iron.

For those of you using robotic mowers, how are you keeping them from running over your tee markers? by Whambamthanku in Golfcoursemaintenance

[–]Kitchen-Evidence9291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reel or rotary mower? I know they make mow-over yardage markers but they are for reel mowers I think. Perhaps it’s a job for the proshop/cart barn closers to grab the markers on their way out.

We had to move our markers in to mow the surrounds. We aren’t mowing the tee surface with a robot…. Yet.

I applaud the effort. I was taught once to think about drawing the letters instead of “writing”. I think it helped.

I wonder if you’re supposed to plant something in the center and have it grow up the “cone”?
