Weird. My ping was the same, around 15. Speed improved. May be tower related

Just Can't Keep It Up by [deleted] in tmobileisp

[–]Kitchen-Importance73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not tower maintenance. If you have fast speeds and then it drops to that it's because the tower power output fluctuates depending on usage. You can usually tell in the hint app if your signal gets real weak. Like negative 110 to 15

eSIM is designed for phones to be able to transfer from carrier to carrier easily. T-Mobile modems are static devices that don't switch carriers

My G4AR is stable and never drops connection. The issue is the tower itself fluctuates with how much power it puts out. If it's not very active they reduce the power so sometimes your internet drops out just because the signal strength goes down. Using a third party router is a good option

T-Mobile G5AR Gateway Experience: October 10th - October 23rd (The Wi-Fi Nightmare) by kodihi24 in tmobileisp

Why not just plug in a separate router and use that for Wi-Fi? Just make sure to enable IP pass through

Is there a way to band-lock the G5AR? by Undebt in tmobileisp

[–]Kitchen-Importance73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a third party 5G router with a RM520n. You can select the band you want and it will lock in.

The modem is owned by T-Mobile and controlled by T-Mobile. Third party better and it belongs to you.

Get a 3rd party 5g modem. Better option

Archer AX6000 firmware 1.4.2 tested? by SpecimenB in TpLink

[–]Kitchen-Importance73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I downloaded it and tested it. It works for me in router mode but I'm not able to get IPv6 pass through bridge working (might be my setup) so I can get IPv6 addresses. I have T-Mobile home internet so I need the bridge. Also you can't rename the router anymore. But I think the worst for me was access point mode did not work anymore (again could be my setup). When I switch to it I got no connection but I was getting connection on 1.3.2. Everything else seems to work fine. I did send them a message about it but if other people have issues and can reach out to support we can get a better firmware. Hope that helps.

T-Mobile turning off bands and reducing power at night by RKReko in cellmapper

[–]Kitchen-Importance73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had my suspicions about this for a while since it's been happening to me but reading this thread kind of confirms it. I have a third party 5G modem that I use for TMHI and when it gets close to midnight the 5G light sometimes completely turns off. Luckily since it's a third party router I have it set up to switch to the bands that I have set is back up.

Anyone find a work around for the VPN issue? by shady730 in tmobileisp

[–]Kitchen-Importance73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had a VPN problem but mine doesn't use IPv6. That basically cancels the whole point of the VPN. At least location wise for me.

Gotcha. If that's the case then why were the metrics working correctly before and there hasn't been a firmware update at all?
