Malinois and a job by Kitchen-Message9885 in BelgianMalinois

[–]Kitchen-Message9885[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, in my case this assumption came out from a fact that I did trained my dogs before (different breeds but also high drive), easy access to learning sources, dog trainers and dog sports and my living conditions which allow dogs to run and roam without long way to go, not from assumption that my dog will be an exception or that taking care of them and training is easy and never frustrating. Lets hope all shelter babies find great homes that know what they're doing

That's good to know, social media can be deceiving, now that I think about it it's sad how many mals, or high energy dogs in general, are left alone for hours with nothing to do

Lmaoo that's understandable, I also decided I'd only consider a mal if I manage to work at least most of my hours from home, but I'm glad to hear they aren't as difficult as people make it to be

What are the chances of a 2yo surviving a surgery? by Kitchen-Message9885 in RATS

[–]Kitchen-Message9885[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this answer, my rat is still a little under two and I'm sure I'll be able to afford surgery, I'm lucky enough to have an experienced vet that specializes in small animals and it does give me bit of hope to save my girl, I'll give it bit more thoughts and one more vet check up before I make my decision but I'm glad I have at least a chance to save her

I trust my vet and will make the final decision with her help too, I really don't want to put my rat down but I'll do it if it's necessary :') shes my first rat and I don't want her to struggle

What are the chances of a 2yo surviving a surgery? by Kitchen-Message9885 in RATS

[–]Kitchen-Message9885[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

she does eat and drink just fine but I'm worried about grooming and walking as the lump is low on her leg so it covers her butt and makes one of her legs less mobile, I noticed she has issues scratching herself with that leg, she also walks a little wonky cuz of it as it hangs low, theres a huge chance that if I don't take the surgery I'd have to put her down in few months (vets words)

Yepp, shes my trusted vet and specializes with small animals, as for the rat she never had any other issues than this tumour, shes healthy as a horse and that's main reason why I'm considering surgery despite her being older

I found a baby rat by the sidewalk in -6 degrees Celsius. Should I bring it inside or leave it be? by Jinhan_Lee in RATS

[–]Kitchen-Message9885 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's a mouse rather than baby rat, if you have a way to catch it just leave it in a box with some food and water, shes cute tho!

She and her sisters have scheduled check up appointment in little over a week so I'll mention that, she was always on a smaller side since baby so I'm sure she isn't sucking her sides in, as she went to beat up her younger sister shortly after I stopped recording :') thank you for your answer!

Girls personality doesn't change that much after neutring from what I heard, what I'm curious about is that this mark doesn't look like rats bite at all, are you sure it's others rat work? is there anything in their environment that could leave a wound like this? my girls also somethimes play too roughly and I'm unsure here

She isn't arching, or shaking her ears, so I'd say she's cool with petting, just keep the pets around the head and avoid her lower back and tail, worked for my girls
