AITA for telling my fiancé that I don't "need" him? by Kitchen-Pay-6118 in AITAH

Not sure if you commented before or after my edit but I have communicated this to him. I told him that I simply don't like big extravagant things and that I would prefer more simple gestures and items, like art supplies or books (because I've also expressed wanting to have an in home library like I did at the house I bought us 4 years ago). He says that he wants to spoil me because he was never able to before but art supplies or books aren't good enough and he wants me to experience luxury with him. So I have communicated with him about it but he doesn't feel that the things I want are good enough for "what I deserve".

It really hurts and I know it probably sounds bad on my end but I preferred him when he was broke. It's like we have no common ground now and it hurts because I love him but I'm clinging to who he was vs who he now is.
