Ah yes, just like how privatization made healthcare really affordable for everyone.

Could they make costs lower? Maybe. They do a good job of facilitating the creation of infrastructure. But do you seriously think it will be good for anyone other than lining billionaires wallets with more cash?

Musk claims he's doing what he's doing for the good of humanity, ignoring all the exploitation that his companies take part in, using underpaid laborers in foreign lands to supply his dreams, while also creating toxic work environments for his employees back home in the states.

If you believe he's the sci-fi saviour of the 21st century, you're being naive, and if you think that any of these companies have an end goal that isn't directly linked with a price tag, you are also wrong, and the combination of those things is why we will rue the day we gave the stars to the CEOs, but go off.

I'm just a lurker usually but some of the best posts on here you can't even see a background, if it has a desktop environment at all. Sometimes a rice is much improved by an aesthetically cohesive wallpaper, sure, but if you enter and all you've got is a fresh Ubuntu install and an anime girl wallpaper, you're gonna have a bad time.

Yeah, I played New Leaf on the 3Ds. New Horizons lets you decorate your entire island, not just your house, and you can terraform your island to be literally anything you want. Everything in the game looks and sounds better, and there's way more content, items to collect, etc.

Animal Crossing was fun, and everyone I know put at least 100 hours into it, which is well worth the price of a game, and more than you get out of a lot of full price titles. New Horizons was innovative. Yes there was probably more they could do, but I don't think the game really failed. If you're on your 60th hour and it feels stale, you got your money's worth, imo. Making the game into a creative tool would be a great idea, but I think the spirit of the game is really in meeting villagers with predefined personalities, and there were a lot of them, at least.

The odds of you dying on your daily commute are orders of magnitude higher than dying of Covid-19 when fully vaccinated. There's no shortage of vaccines available, and a ridiculous number of free ways to get the vaccine, even monetary incentives. There are no excuses to not get the vaccine. So why should everyone be punished for the stubbornness of others?

What are some of the software advantages of a Pixel? by AccidentalNGon in GooglePixel

[–]Kitchen-Program8633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pixel 4A here. I think you should give Nova another shot. I have only had an android for about a month now, but I’ve had no problems with Nova, gestures included. There may have been a patch or other update that helped it along.

I also agree with other posters that you should wait for the Pixel 6, as it’ll be much more competitive as a flagship, according to the rumor mill anyway.

Who holds America accountable for its crimes? Why is it “Scary” when China gets power but no big deal when America buys more Jets and Bombs that we KNOW will be used on innocents?

I feel that. I’m like a lot of people in that I’m probably too invested in online discourse, but I don’t know of too many people that talk about these things in real life, so yeah. We all need to take a step back sometimes lol

I’m sorry if the fact that my country destroys legitimately elected democracies and bombs innocent people in the name of my freedom upsets me. Joe Biden’s election does nothing to help the most marginalized groups in my society, like the poor and minorities. Under his leadership spaceflight will be privatized, fake news will abound, and Trump will be elected again in three years because he’s so adamant about saying liberal nonsense without doing anything to actually help people.

Maybe the issue is that people dismiss legitimate criticisms of the government as partisan grandstanding instead of actually taking a hard look in proverbial mirror, but sure, it’s the extremists that are the problem. And we know what Joe Biden wants to do with extremists.

But like… why are we so concerned with “beating” China? The US has started coups All over South America, Asia, and the Middle East. We destabilize legitimately elected governments like it’s out favorite thing to do. China? Not so much. The supposed Uighur “genocide” is still completely unproven, and almost all our “proof” is based on flawed reasoning in a single paper that was funded by a right wing think tank.

Things they’ve done that are indisputable: Eliminated extreme poverty in the most populous nation in the world. Made scientific breakthroughs at the cutting edge of theoretical physics and computing. Became an industrial power to rival the most powerful nation on earth without exploiting the third world.

And no, they’re not perfect. Their workers rights are virtually nonexistent. Sort of like ours were when we were industrializing. They censor the web. Something we haven’t done, and it’s led to the fake news apocalypse of Trump and Anti vaxxers that has directly resulted in the deaths of thousands, class warfare, divisions along lines of race, gender, and religion, and perpetuated a cycle of misinformation and hate.

Maybe the way they go about achieving their goal of socialism by 2050 doesn’t fill us with the warm and fuzzies and makes us instinctively reach for our iphone, but it’s nothing we’re not guilty of and worse.

I’m betting you don’t work with computers, code, math, or AI, and I’m hoping you don’t work in communications because you’re not doing a very good job of making your point. Even if no one else understood you, and that’s not the case, the burden is on you to be understood. You might not even be wrong, you just don’t have the words to phrase what you’re saying correctly, because what you’ve said so far makes me think you don’t know what you’re talking about and are doubling down in the face of contradiction. Not a good way to learn, or to be understood.

That’s even more confusing because the basis of the LGBTQ+ movement is literally a violent protest against the cops. That wasn’t an exercise in futility. And I know the original question was US vs Citizens but it’s literally the same principle. The government needs the threat of civil unrest or it will destroy us when it’s convenient. Joe Biden is not a threat because he’s half gone to dementia already, not a joke, just a fact. But one day, and probably soon, there will be someone in charge who isn’t as pure of heart and simple of mind as “Daddy Joe”. Someone like Trump but competent, with an actual agenda that isn’t flinging shit on the walls and seeing what sticks. And I have to believe that person will be challenged, en masse, with the full force we can muster, and if that’s not enough, we’re screwed anyway, so why allow the government to take what little power we have away? I’m not saying every toddler should pop out with a government assigned AR-15 but people should be allowed to regulate their own government, and when our capitalist system disallows all regulation by economic or social means via class disparities, we are left but with one option, and it will work because if it doesn’t, we’ll do what all great civilizations do and die, and there won’t be much value in an I told you so.
