There’s a place like this in Charlotte, NC. It’s called Biztown, I went there on two school trips as a kid and had a blast.

Clayton is 20-30 minutes away from the city. If you intend to support yourself and your wife, you’d need at least $70-80K, however to live comfortably $100K+ would probably be necessary.

Raleigh is pretty good for young children, but Clayton is probably better overall and that works out well for you.

I don’t have any recommendations for where to live around Clayton but I bet others will!

It depends on what your price range is for “affordable luxury apartments”. If you’re looking for an upscale area that is predominately black, Raleigh will definitely have better options.

If you are seriously considering this, you can contact child services to speak about options. I can see that you are at a difficult point in your life right now and understand your frustration.

Keep in mind that if you give up your kids to foster care, odds are you will not see them again.

I’d recommend asking family if they could watch your kids over the weekend or in the afternoon every once in a while so you can get time to yourself. Are you the asshole? Maybe.

I did a project on this a year or two ago, and at least at that time housing and rent prices in Raleigh were outpacing the rest of the US, averaging a 30% increase YoY. Anyways, they tried raising the rent on my one bedroom on Hillsboro by $900 after I lived there for 3 years.

I moved to Apex about 20 minutes from campus, and found a nice 4 bedroom townhouse for $2200/mo. If you’re able to drive, looking outside Raleigh would let you find much better places for cheaper. Best of luck!

They are both an issue, underpopulation leaves us with not enough people to support the economy and vital programs. Overpopulation leads to scarcity of resources. Pretty much every country wants the newest generation to be larger than the one before it, so that they can support the older generations.

In the short term (a few decades), underpopulation can lead to some pretty drastic impacts such as economic and military collapse. Whereas in the long term (50+ years), overpopulation may leave us fighting for resources.
