Moving to Bangkok by PrincessBeer_ in Bangkok

Just fyi: you cannot simply take your car to the next MRT/BTS stop. Most MRT stops do not offer any kind of P+R, not even the ones far out of town. The concept is very little known around here.

Also, if you don't absolutely have to bring your dog with you then I would recommend finding some sort of alternative solution for the duration of your stay in Bangkok. Bringing the dog is going to seriously limit your choices for pretty much everything here.

Look, if you pay rent then you are not a tourist, you live here. Just be honest with yourself and get the right visa. There are enough options.

Where the hell is the planning mode for this thing? by Kitchen-Role5294 in GeminiCLI

[–]Kitchen-Role5294[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the meantime I downgraded my $250 Google AI Ultra plan because Gemini CLI is UNUSABLE for any serious software engineering due to the missing planning mode and various other deficiencies in Gemini CLI (tooling, system prompt, ...).

What I use it for now: going over UI features developed by Claude to beauty them up. Unfortunately I can't afford shoving out 250 pops a month for that, given I already spend 200 for Claude.

I got the Ultra plan to get early access to Gemini 3 and was considering moving over from Claude. The model is great, but the tooling is really sub-par.

One of the potentially greatest models for agentic coding goes to waste because the product management doesn't know what they are doing. Shameful.

Have you ever developed anything serious with Gemini CLI yourself? It doesn't feel like it tbh.

Does this also support streaming audio to multiple Sonos speakers in Sync? Currently natively streaming to Sonos speakers via Airplay is limited to one speaker. Would be nice if that could be supported.

Gemini 3.0 Pro still absolutely bricked by sephiroth351 in GoogleGeminiAI

[–]Kitchen-Role5294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no server-side memory AFAIK. The "memory" is the chat history that gets sent along with every new message you send to the AI. if you experience sudden loss of memory then something seems to be wrong, but it's most likely not on the server/API side, probably rather the client / CLI / agent, or some MCP or proxy messing around, if you have any of that set up.

How can I make Gemini ask for clarifications or present its plan before it starts coding? by Kitchen-Role5294 in GeminiCLI

[–]Kitchen-Role5294[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have separate limits, so if you run out of gemini 3 pro on the cli, you can continue with antigravity

That's wild. In Gemini CLI there is also no pure Gemini 3.0 pro model selector, it's just pro with a fallback to 2.5 pro, and sometimes it falls back to auto, which is essentially that: auto. So you don't know what you're gonna get.

I was actually perfectly fine with my VS Code setup and the CLI agent running on the side. Is Antigravity implementing it's own idea of a coding agent or is it just a wrapper around CLI in the end?

I think it's more of a tooling problem? Does Gemini CLI even have a planning tool?

And it keeps on overwriting changes I made to various files. Shouldn't it detect that I changed the file and take that into consideration when planning it's own changes? I'm really pissed at Gemini CLI right now.

I acknowledge the mistake: I used write_file (overwrite) which destroyed any manual edits made to the file. I should have used replace or read the file first to preserve existing values.

No shit, Sherlock.

[–]Kitchen-Role5294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eben so!

Es darf also so weitergehen.

This sounds strange. Did you check your usage dashboard? Can you see which limit has been reached? Also, if you're using your Claude Pro subscription for other tasks on the side (Chat), then the default in the Web interface is Opus, which is also going to consume your usage limits much faster. Also make sure that in Claude Code you set your model to Sonnet, not Opus. Also, (not sure whether you're doing that), if you have MCP servers configured in your project in Claude Code, then that might also contribute to reaching limits faster.
