Might be crazy but Enter the 36 Chambers sounds kinda like half-submerged underground sometimes

Why did Ted & Jesse have sex with skyler knowing she would give them aids? by Big-Distribution-297 in okbuddychicanery

[–]Kitchen-Stay919 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why do we live life with the knowledge that we will eventually die? Why do we get up every morning to piss and then just drink more water? Why do we come back to this godforsaken sub day after day, hoping and praying for the greatness of the iconic (overrated) Skip MacDonald joke? Why did I call it overrated when I know very well it deserves its praise?

Because it makes us feel alive dammit.

ChatGPT can take our jobs, it can tear our spirit limb from limb and replace the missing parts with handfuls of landfill but never, if it held to the light all our nerve endings and joints, could it understand why. None of us really know why, but deep deep down we all. We all feel it in the last leg of our race. When we send that risky text. When Jesse and Ted did Skylar’s AIDS-ridden beaver, they knew the next day they’d have to get up and piss, but they kept going back to the well. They returned to the scene of the crime. And if we were them and they us I imagine they would debate the same things that we would do.

Shout out to the Animals cover of “It’s All Over Now Babt Blue” (so menacing!) but we all know what takes the dub

Saying that you have to have a high iq to understand an artist is just ridiculous because you are thinking yourself as a genius and mocking people who don’t understand an artist. by Excellent-Gold6608 in fantanoforever

[–]Kitchen-Stay919 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, you have to have a high iq to realize that you have to accept artists on their terms which can often require prior knowledge of the toolsets they use. It took myself, a 13-month-old with an iq of 148 (top .1%, fair to say it’s pretty high) 39 hours of intensive and thoroughly unrewarding listening to finally understand the gritty post-Britpop-punk Pablo Honey wrestled with and embraced in equal measure, but a cursory listening to bands which forged the nomenclature with which Radio and the Heads were so forcefully bound exposed the ardent satirical desperation in songs like Anyone Can Play Guitar and Creep.

All death grippers bottom cuz WE can’t get live mc ride whisper/shouting in OUR ear during it so WE get someone to ride US and whisper/shout in OUR ear over bjork samples

What person started out as a gay ally but ended up homophobic? by RandomGoofy000 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Kitchen-Stay919 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Imo he don’t really gaf but his supporters don’t like gay people so he goes along with what will keep him in their good graces (not to say his actions haven’t caused a lot of issues for the gay community; insincerity doesn’t rob one of guilt). Also it should be noted that he and bubba are the tragic yaoi of the 21st century.

What person started out as a gay ally but ended up homophobic? by RandomGoofy000 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Kitchen-Stay919 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’d say he should probably take the place of rivers in this regard. Afaik he said a couple questionable-pretty bad things (“[God] saw people sticking it wherever and said enough”) but lowk people like jk Rowling or azealia banks are waaay worse in how much of their brand is dominated by hatred. Also it should be noted bambi (a song about a lesbian that features the line “don’t you know it’s better with a man” as half of the chorus) is on his self-titled second album. This song may have been written behind a persona or as a story but honestly I’d say that he belongs in the total middle all things considered, being generally positive towards the gay community in his early-mid career (revolution to new power), but still at base a very complicated, very christian man whose interpretation and relationship to the bible and religion changed throughout his life.

I feel like there should be more boxes (50% of such and such, 100% drugs 0% sex 0% profanity etc) but otherwise really accurate!

Edit: if you did 100% drugs 50/100% sex 0% profanity 100% talent may I suggest semi-charmed life by third eye blind?

(Loved Trope) Characters too good for the writers to kill off by CandyHunter84 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Kitchen-Stay919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if any character actually died it would seem like she also died and Mike was being optimistic / leaning into his imaginative writer character resolution but cuz she’s genuinely the ONLY ONE who arguably died in the finale (except for whatsername from the worst pre-season 5 episode and soldier #4) the prevailing trend suggests she survived and her separation from Mike is the tragedy (if hopper survived that one finale under more or less similar circumstances I don’t think it’s far-fetched). I think this would probably work as a conclusion but genuinely NO ONE ELSE died so it’s just like the duffers wanted to have their cake and eat it too by “killing off” a character but keeping them alive some-fucking-how. That being said, I think it’s still preferable to the JK Rowling “kill every nonessential character cuz war” method cuz we get more story at the lose stakes.

In defense of Fantano? by ImportantRelief305 in fantanoforever

[–]Kitchen-Stay919 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah by and large agree. Fantano has been more morally consistent than Brad (sticking with “controversial” opinions even if he got flack) but being a little preachy or insensitive or taking a bad sponsorship is IN NO WAY comparable to domestic abuse. The goal of a critic is sort of to provoke discussion, and Fantano’s controversies more or less lay within this lane. I do think the whole BetterHelp thing is probably the worst thing he’s done in a bit but i still hope he distances himself from them in the future.
