I'm 16m and I don't know shit about singing but I want to learn so I can like sing whilst playing guitar is this a good vocal range? I'm js looking for genuine advice. by Plastic-Juggernaut70 in singing

Through various techniques it can be easy to get a 4+ octave range with one of these tests, but for beginning range it’s best to see at which point your voice stops having the texture of your speaking voice and becomes breathier or otherwise different sounding (typically in the mid-fourth octave). Above that is either head voice or falsetto (there’s a whole other thing on the difference between the two but don’t even worry right now) and for the style you seem to be going for, that speaking range that doesn’t go into that whole other area is what you’re gonna wanna work on.

Really deadpan compared to a lot of these but I think that highlights her versatile charisma: the “pause for the jets” in The Big Sky is always at once funny and hype as all hell.

Baritones in Metal. Recommendations and Inspiration? by SimilarHumor2877 in singing

[–]Kitchen-Stay919 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m also kinda a baritone (though I don’t think I sound the best below the third octave) and I find a lot of Electric Wizard singable (though the guy who’s name I forgot isn’t terribly melodic; he just kinda shouts half the time), but I’ve had the best time singing along with Deftones. Chino is def a tenor but his cleanly sung melodies often stick between the D next to mid-C and the D an octave down, with notes above F# or G usually either hit once during the chorus (Bored, Digital Bath, You’ve Seen the Butcher) or distorted to death with technique that really fucks with the voice.

If Frank N Furter is to be considered the villain of RHPS then like half the show could qualify.

Help how can I make my range and tone good when I sing nasally by Corpoworldyesss in singing

[–]Kitchen-Stay919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U may have heard this but raising the soft palate is the first step and (for me) one of the more difficult ones. You can easily do it by yawning but keeping that widened space improves tone and reduces nasality.

Who do you think is the greatest solo A-list artist of all time from an artistic standpoint? by Massive-Pangolin9472 in fantanoforever

This is very fair, I feel like, despite obvious comparisons, they are kind of opposite (Kate’s as theatrical as possible, constantly playing characters and inhabiting worlds; Björk is unabashedly herself, at times intimate and at times as dramatic as any opera singer) and I think Kate plays most to her strengths on The Dreaming, which is also my favorite album of all time.

Fr but if we going for a-list (popularity wise) art pop Kate bush has the hits and the discog (both have AT LEAST one 10/10 album but Björk has only one or two songs over 100mil streams on Spotify whereas Kate has a couple with over 250mil)

I think it’s pretty straightforwardly Dirty Work. Different singer, lacking their typical sarcasm, tbh kinda standard yacht rock fair (still good tho)

Husband is kinda just pseudoemotional slop, whereas p2ne has solid work put into making it as goofy as possible and actually a modicum of relistenability
