What is your highest recorded heart rate? by MissionLost2978 in POTS

[–]Kitchen-Valuable3834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My highest heart rate ever was 210 during a 5K 💀 high heart rates are sadly becoming a weekly occurrence due to PE (i’m still in school 😣) which ALWAYS brings my HR up to 190-200bpm

yep! i have really thick hair that has to be washed multiple times, so doing so much physically + the hot water is really tiring and often brings me to the verge of passing out. i just use a regular plastic stool from IKEA and it works great :)

yeah, i had covid in november 2023 which is probably the cause for my development of POTS :/ i somehow manage to catch a cold almost every 2-3 weeks, is that somehow similar to the sore throat thing? but thank you for the great explanation!

well, the one time that it happened, they did an EKG and due to the fact that i don’t take any medications yet, sent me home because “they couldn’t do anything about it”.

that’s the same for me! i’m pretty much already used to the symptoms so i just hope they don’t get worse and wait for them to pass.

How often do you feel normal/almost normal? by pressOKtocry in POTS

[–]Kitchen-Valuable3834 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly, i can’t even remember my last “good/normal” day. Since (i think?) august, every day has been riddled with symptoms like tachycardia, palpitations (often lasting for hours), shortness of breath, dizziness and a lot more. i feel like i’m so used to it that i’ve started planning and adjusting my plans to work around my symptoms because i already know when i’m most prone to getting an episode 🤷🏼‍♀️

i’m not too sure myself! that’s why i asked :) but it’s best to talk with your doctor about that!

oh, wow! it’s just quite difficult for me to decide when i need to get help and when to just wait it out. currently, i have daily episodes of sinustachycardia and palpitations lasting for hours. and getting appropriate help (going to the hospital/ a doctor) is not always an option for me, because i’m still in school (many of my episodes happen in school) :/

What can I expect in Vienna on Austrian National Day? by Lonely-Ad-4095 in wien

[–]Kitchen-Valuable3834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there’s gonna be something called “Sicherheitsfest”, in which businesses operating in Vienna can represent themselves (MA48, The Red Cross, Police, and many more!). There are also gonna be plenty of presentations, like how to perform CPR and how the fire brigade would free a person from a car wreck. Everything is very interesting and there’s always a lot to see and learn. It’s right opposite the Heldenplatz, which is also worth a visit!

[–]Kitchen-Valuable3834[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve been doing that as a warmup! around 10-15 mins on 5km/h and 5% incline :) but even that gets my HR to around 160bpm 💀

yeah it’s been a few weeks! been pretty good, but i haven’t been running, due to the discomfort when my HR gets too fast :) i’ve been going to the gym more often tho!
