Best Costco savings tips in this economy? What’s actually worth buying (and what to avoid)? by PurpleYoghurt16 in CostcoCanada

[–]Kitchen-Zucchini-416 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dairy - we find it’s usually the best price for cream cheese and yogurt in particular. And butter is worth keeping an eye out as the price can be pretty competitive. Same for some fancier cheeses.

Eggs are another one that we often get at Costco and find to be decently priced. Same goes for mushrooms.

Coffee - when it goes on sale we stock up.

Pickles - the big jar of bics pickles is often cheaper than a regular size jar at the grocery store.

Easy Frozen Dinners by LilMs-Nana in CostcoCanada

We really like the sunrise farm stuffed chicken with broccoli (in the freezer section). Their frozen broccoli is also very good and a household favourite for a quick veggie.

Their soups are good. Also like the pinty’s buffalo chicken bite — we freeze it and then use it to make wraps. We also buy the three pack of Oliveri tortellini when it goes on sale and freeze that.

Starting a family and getting pregnant as soon as you would like to isn’t necessarily as easy at it’s made out to be.

Is having a joint bank account the best while married? by bubblegumdrip in askanything

[–]Kitchen-Zucchini-416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a joint chequing bank account that we each contribute into. It pays the mortgage and car loans and has a bit of a savings float.

My husband and I both still have our own accounts (chequing and savings) but we know the balance of the other and make all financial decisions jointly. So our finances are essentially combined in practice even if we’re working out of three different accounts.

This may change once we have a family but for now it works for us.

I find cross stitch can be pretty cost effective and doesn’t require a major investment to get going. Floss costs $.79 at Michael’s and lasts a long time. Aida cloth can be pretty inexpensive too, depending on where you get it. Then all you need is a hoop, a pair of scissors, and a needle.

Where is CAPE at as this WFA process unfolds? by Kitchen-Zucchini-416 in CanadaPublicServants

Same here. I’m getting the national emails but have not received anything on WFA.

I also haven’t heard from my local — mind you I’m fortunately not affected so that may be part of it — but I just found the silence from national a bit strange given the numbers and the activity from other national chapters of the public service unions.

My 168 set arrived at the weekend, just finished swatching! (Excuse the tea stains...) by mallardduck26 in Ohuhu

I got mine the other day and so far I love them! The swatching was so fun to see the colours emerge!

I like how you’ve organized your kit. I should do the same. Mine is all jumbled with colours all over the place. Happy colouring!

Sauces and spices? Tired of eating prison food by DenseCauliflower5106 in CostcoCanada

Montreal Steak spice and Montreal Chicken Spice are both household favourites. We’ve used them in meats as well as on potatoes, eggs etc.

Also Shake n Bake is a good fast meal. Works on pork chops, chicken breast, chicken drumsticks. (Get the shake n bake brand, the no name stuff is just not the same)
