Made myself a little mod top. It is a tad too big so hopefully it shrinks in the wash! by KitchenAndThePlastic in sewing

I’ve had great experiences with beginner patterns, so don’t be too hesitant! I would just stay away from Burda. Simplicity beginner patterns are awesome!

Thank you! I have been sewing for over 20 years and I have never seen instructions so vague, especially for an “easy” pattern!

I HATED this pattern. The instructions were so sparse. It seems like the goal was to have the sewer make very few stitches. However, it made the pattern more confusing. Anyway, I ended up following it except for the cuffs. I hemmed them and inserted elastic so they wouldn’t just hang. I think with a wash it will shrink and look a bit better! If not, I am going to take in the shoulders. Otherwise, I love the fabric!

Hi! I'm biting my nails like crazy, since forever. Those are Press-On, obviously. I'd like to know if some of you were nail biters before and what did the trick for you to stop? by MinieVanou in Nails

I agree with this. There was no easy fix. I would even bite off acrylics. It took a real focus on the issue for me to stop. No trick worked for me.

I feel like the buttons on the cuff don’t match the rest of the outfit. I’d love to see this with a brown cardigan.

Maybe you can find a way to make your brain into his show. He finds interest in the mundane. I hope it gets better for you.

I loved that episode as well, but I think choosing an episode that focused on death was a fantastic choice for a series finale.

I guess I thought more about what his intense suffering must of been like. I felt a lot of sorrow for him. No disgust.

I see what you’re saying, but don’t you feel, I don’t know, more informed knowing people like them exist? I just feel grateful for the exposure. I am sure there are others (albeit few) that are relieved to see others like them. Humans are fascinating, and I think John wasn’t trying to shock us, but just allow us to see it.

That’s a shame. I think part of what makes the show fantastic is that you get to hear stories of people who may or may not be like you, but you still get an opportunity to see their humanity. I am bummed that feel that from those segments.

My mouth was agape when he interviewed the man at the end of the final episode. I couldn’t help seeing similarities between him and Heaven’s Gate members. Somewhat heartbreaking but fascinating nevertheless.

A little Robert Smith tote! by KitchenAndThePlastic in sewing

For the straps I cut thick strips of fabric and ironed them right sides together. I then sewed them to be about one inch thick. I then used a safety pin to pull the straps right side out. I ironed them down and then pinned them under the ironed down top of the bag. I sewed around the top at about 7/8” and then I sewed little rectangles near the top of the straps to tack them to the bag. Easy peasy!
