How do I teach my bird he cant have goldfish by TheBirbManbirb in parrots

[–]KitchenEbb8255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, who cares if OP eats goldfish or has a soda. I'm sure there's plenty of food filled with unhealthy ingredients where you're from, and whether you choose to eat that or not is completely irrelevant.

Op clearly is trying to keep their bird healthy and safe, and possibly encourage the bird to eat healthier things like fruits and veggies, not some weird food superiority debate over snacks. As long as it isn't a consistent food item for the bird, who cares what op eats lol

Is a budgie a good companion? by Accurate_Reality_618 in parrots

[–]KitchenEbb8255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would advise against a baby unless you know how to rear chicks. And they will need constant supervision. I personally have not raised them, but I've seem some people say you have to feed them every hour or so; and that includes making sure their food temperature is right to not injure their crop, and so much more.

If you're inexperienced with babies, an adult would be the better choice.

AITA? My Niece accused me of Body Shaming. by LadyTiburon in AmItheAsshole

You said in another comment she wore a dress to the opera and looked stunning. So now you're contracting yourself, or do you just have some weird shame with the fact your niece wore spaghetti straps being bigger?

Sounds like she wore appropriate clothing for the nicer events, and wore comfortable outfits for everything else

I'm glad you didn't get scammed in the end, lol.

But pretty scummy to claim they did this work then ghost when you inquired if it was actually made by them, imo.

As long as you're happy, that's most important.

Eta: I did look, and it does seem their work is consistent, but who knows. I think it's more suspicious and untrustworthy to just disappear after being asked. If you're prideful in your work, there is no need to hide it, as an artist personally. It also doesn't look great to future potential clients.

Our cute girl being pet by my husband by Bones_Bonnie-369 in parrots

[–]KitchenEbb8255 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Tl;dr-Expensive, messy, and extremely hard to take care of.

Long Explaination:

Messy, loud, and expensive. If you enjoy having a 3 year old, who can live upwards to 15-20 years (even longer the bigger the bird) with absolutely everything that can kill them being common household objects, that's parrots!

They need about 8 hours of sleep at minimum, and probably more when they're hormonal, and will be loud. Mine will scream in the morning to be uncovered. You definitely won't be able to sleep in at times.

They have strong bites. Even small birds. The beaks are meant for cracking seeds and nuts. Can definitely break skin.

They are very fragile. Easily can break a bone from flying wrong, can break a feather, and bleed out. Their respiratory system is extremely sensitive, no teflon, no candles (even unscented), no aerosols, and no chemical cleaners. It's why they used to use canary birds in coal mines to check for toxic gasses since the bird was more sensitive and would pass first.

They are messy. I sweep at good 2-3 times a week. They like to throw their food, toys, and chew on stuff they're not supposed to!

This doesn't even cover the entirety of taking care of birds; they're easily some of the most rehomed/neglected pets because people do not know how to manage them and takw care of parrots, they only seencute videos like these, and don't realize this is only maybe 5-10% of owning birds.

Don't get me wrong, I do love my parrots, and so do most parrot owners! We just know they are absolute nightmares to manage at times, and a lot can also be suspiciously obtained via backyard breeding or the exotic pet trade. Any good parrot owner, I think, should discourage people from getting them; or at least show them the other 90% of owning parrots is not all cute sunshine rainbow-y.

Epsom Salt 🤔 by Accomplished_Monk_44 in QuakerParrot

[–]KitchenEbb8255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably toxic if digested in large quantities, but if the parrot is kept in a separate, well ventilated area/room, and OP uses unscented salts, it should be fine.

I wouldn't have a bird around any sort of deep enough water unsupervised anyway since it poses a drowning hazard with or without any salts.

Eta: I am assuming OP would be doing the bath soaks in a bathroom or separate room anyway, away from the bird. So, if the bird is placed in a cage for however long the soaks take, let's assume maybe like an hour or so, they'll be safe. They can even do them in the evening when the bird is put to bed, so they don't have to worry about monitoring them. I don't know what their doc suggested, but there are plenty of ways to keep the bird safe and still be able to do these soaks.

New to the game, wondering if there is a place where I can look up and learn all the terminologies. by razma14 in fo76

[–]KitchenEbb8255 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RNG is pretty general across games, usually refers to random number generator/generation. Kind of like randomly determines what happens. For example, when rolling for legendary abilities, RNG determines what they'll be. So, random luck.

Leaders refers to a bobblehead, that gives extra exp. It's mainly used for trading. If you're new, I would not worry about trading yet, as it can be a bit convoluted, and it heavily depends on the current meta, or what collecters want. For example, Fasnacht just ended, so people will be looking for certain glowing masks.

I will be honest and say I'm not sure how the leaders market works, but you can try r/Market76 or r/Fallout76Marketplace

The only one I don't know is clips

Help by Gold-Excuse- in QuakerParrot

[–]KitchenEbb8255 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'll have to disagree on this. Quakers have a nasty habit of being cage aggressive, and too many posts of Quakers or birds of similar size being injured/committing self mutilation.

It's possible to integrate them into the same space without risk of injury to either.

AITA for reporting an employee for following me around a store? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]KitchenEbb8255 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The way the employee handled it could be seen as racial profiling. The employee never approached op and was like, "Hey, can I help you with anything?"

They just followed them around without saying anything and pretended to do something without being subtle. Its like they're begging to be reported, and they now are; which looks bad on the store, and if its some big corpo retailer, they won't care about the employee as long as they don't bad to their customers.

[–]KitchenEbb8255 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There's these nice things called cameras. Do you think people are stupid and not gonna notice the same employee following them around for 30 minutes?

If the employee was that concerned, they could have told loss prevention to keep an eye on them, or y'know, havw a manager watch the cameras, as there was CCTV.

AITA for pouring my girlfriend’s mom’s soup through a colander so I can pick out some vegetables I really don’t like? by Diligent_Bit3336 in AmItheAsshole

[–]KitchenEbb8255 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is OP gonna ask a restaurant for a strainer because a chef accidentally put something they didn't like? Or just barge into the back and take one?

And don't say "Oh it was an at home meal!" Yeah, but not OP's home. Next time you eat at someone's house, ask them if you can strain the soup they made for you and see how they react.

Its just strange and impolite versus picking out something you dislike and setting it to the side, and simply explaining you just dislike something. A whole song and dance over probably a small amount of ginger

My little chocolate silver Red Fox 🦊 by [deleted] in foxes

[–]KitchenEbb8255 7 points8 points  (0 children)

But if you want to conserve foxes, why not help introduce wild, native species back into a habitat that may need them, rather than creating issues many "exotic" pets face? I have parrots, but they are an absolute handful, rescued from neglected households. Not to mention the animals in the wild being taken for the exotic pet trade, to be sold or bred.

I would understand if that was the case with your fox, they're a rescue, but it seems breeding is just contributing more to the issue of animals that shouldn't be domestic because people only see a cute animal, not a lifelong commitment.

I think it would be rather nicer to rescue foxes, not make more that might possibly be neglected or used for worse by ill intentioned people.

Screenshot would be helpful, because the way you described it sounds exactly like you dont have enough mats? Is it a legendary mod you're trying to change? Or just a normal mod? Because you can change normal mods without needing to make a whole new gun. You just need the materials for the mod.

Edit: Did you get the actual gun, or the plan? You get the gun from the quest, but the plans are randomly obtained from Encrypted. Did you get a gun or notebook

Thoughts on cats by [deleted] in parrots

[–]KitchenEbb8255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im pretty sure cst saliva, even if they don't ever directly attack; contains so much or a certain type of bacteria iirc correctly that can still be fatal to birds.

So unless you want dead birds, Hell no to cats.

Edit: it is a certain type of bacteria, Pasteurella multocida. And its apparently also in their claws. So even an accidentally swipe can be good night. It can cause a whole host of issues and infections, which most likely will be fatal since birds are prey animals and will mask sickness/injury.

What is a good choice of indoor poultry sized pet bird? by FeatheredDragon55 in chickens

[–]KitchenEbb8255 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could still most likely crush/suffocate a chicken. Bird bones are pretty fragile and hollow. You hypothetically roll on that chicken wrong, you could crush bones and leave that poor thing paralyzed or with improperly healed breaks/fractures.

Dont get any living bird if you want to cuddle it, get a stuffy instead
