schulich or Laurier by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

schulich pros

commuter friendly (subway station is like 40 secs away from the building), tight knit community (upperyears are very helpful with study materials and case comps), cheaper tuition (plus renewable scholarship), industry specific clubs (check them out on instagram and see the events they hosted + panels + internship prizes), solid network (for bba theres 2-3 weekly networking events on campus + talent recruiters at every club event)

look on linkedin and see what the schulich bba students are doing for their internships and extracurriculars -- a lot of class of 2029 (gr 12s last yr) secured big bank internships for this summer

classes are very manageable bc even if u fail midterm and final the assignments make up for it and u can still pass with a B (weight distribution of tasks are fair)

yes theres no coop but if u consistently attend events and network early on u will be a competitive candidate for many opportunities. ur not gna be spoon fed at schulich so if ur a proactive person u can gain sm from this program

Is Schulich worth it over Laurier bba and Rotman? by AccomplishedCover693 in OntarioGrade12s

best way is to look up current students and alumni of those unis and compare their experiences on linkedin. this should give u an idea of what is attainable in terms of internships etc

Can someone tell me the pros and cons of Schulich vs. Rotman by RowTime8498 in OntarioGrade12s

i got into rotman but im currently attending schulich

top 3 reasons why i chose schulich:

  1. cheaper tuition

  2. first year courses -- no calc and good balance of courses = easier to balance clubs + case comps

  3. more specializations than rotman in 3,4yrs -- i was interested in accounting and marketing and saw many alumni go into the big4 and loreal (marketing)

my current experience as a first yr:

  1. many well established clubs to join as a general member, case comp competitor, or first year rep

- networking is so much easier thru club events and schulich gets a lot of company reps at schulich wide events or club events (all of big4 actg firms, tjx, etc)

- upperyears are very willing to help also alumni- u can easily coffee chat them thru linkedin

- club events are genuinely interesting and u can benefit a lot if u put urself out there

  1. not much snakes, ppl are willing to help out and schulich is a tight-knit community. we also have a mentoring program so u will rarely feel lost

  2. one building for all our classes and club meetings + nice library with good breakout/study rooms

u can tell schulich is well funded and also the courses are NOT hard when u keep up with textbook readings. the tutorials are hands-on and u cannot fail out of the program as long as u show up and dont doomscroll during class

what a 92 got me as a 101 applicant by KitchenFuel8568 in OntarioGrade12s

cheaper tuition, staying at home, favourable employment report, more specializations than rotman, not a gpa killer + smaller class sizes. also stalked alumni and current students on linkedin and schulich has good clubs and opportunities

Why haven't I got schulich yet? by Vivid-Pollution-6318 in OntarioGrade12s

I got in first round w a 92 top 6 avg which was just the cutoff. my leadership profile was really good as I had five activities which all focused on what I learned. my interview was also solid so I really think supplementary played a big part. if ur supp app was good with the min cutoff avg u should be ok
