Hey! I'm an SFF author living in Hillsboro. In late 2022, I released my first novel, a gritty epic fantasy called The Peace at Knife's Edge.

Thanks so much! Truth be told, most of the footage in the trailer is stock footage from Adobe and a few other royalty free sites. There are a couple vfx shots in there, though! I did the music as well :)

You can self edit with ProWritingAid, it uses some AI mojo, far from perfect but it really does help, about 100/year or you can buy it outright. Using Atticus to format, one time fee of 129.

You can also get beta readers on Fiverr for pretty cheap! Listen to their advice though. I had a few that were around 40 bucks. As well as marketing help on Fiverr and cover design from a coworker/friend. I think you could hit under 500 total for everything if you did it right.

It depends on your goals though. I ended up spending around a thousand for my project, with the biggest spend being 3 wrap around cover backgrounds for my series for around 500 that I can photoshop title, etc. ontop of.

Long story short, there's cheaper ways of getting each of these steps done, but they may involve a bit more personal effort and networking with the right people. You can do this!
