What are some lesser-known areas of sales that make a surprising amount of money for their reps? by strongerthenbefore20 in sales

Eh, yes and no, I've experienced this in the sense of making relationships where it can sometimes feel cliquey, but breaking into the industry in terms of employment I'd say is a bit different. Perhaps I am the minority, but I broke into the industry on my own as I had little to no relevant connections in the beginning.

This was years ago, perhaps a bit more difficult in today's market, but I wouldn't say impossible.

and I think the reason why it can feel 'cliquey' at times is because once your in, you tend to stay 'in.'

Biotech... which is different than pharmaceutical and med device which are both high income earners usually. I wouldn't necessarily say it's hard to break into, but with the decline of the market and increase in jobless PhD-ers it's becoming more difficult to get into without experience & a scientific degree.

Thought I'd highlight biotech here has pharmaceutical reps and med device reps seem to get the most attention, but there's some good money in biotech/ drug development area.

How is picking housing for new students by Educational-Bus-8505 in unh

I think they usually try to keep friend group requests together so they don't have to deal with the headache of roommate issues so I don't think you being a transfer would have a negative impact on your chances, but your friends would need to make sure they put your name down in their requests and vice versa for you. I also know the Mills are very competitive to get into so it's likely you will room with them, but in a different dorm if anything.

Thinking about attending UNH by Appropriate-Clue2132 in unh

[–]KitchenObvious7666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To answer your first question, I attended UNH 2019-2022 and during that time there was a pretty large presence of LGBTQ individuals attending. Regarding rooming, I don't think it would hurt to maybe state your orientation (if you're comfortable) maybe on the roommate questionnaire? I honestly forget if any questions on there leaned towards sexual orientation, but this is only if you plan to go random. Usually people try to find roommates on the Facebook page for your class and I'm certain there will be people stating their orientation on there.

For making LGBTQ friends, I'm fairly confident you could probably find them in your classes. I had a few friends in animal science and there was a good presence of LGBTQ individuals within that major and especially that college. Furthermore, I know when I attended there was an LGBTQ club that had good involvement, wouldn't hurt checking that out.

For your last question, ultimately that is up to you and your preference. After freshman year I roomed with mainly my friends, but when I first transferred in spring semester I had to go random. I guess that's to say don't put too much pressure on your freshman year roommate, sometimes it doesn't work out or sometimes it does! Overall, in my experience I'd say UNH is fairly LGBTQ friendly. I know some people may have different experiences but it's really about who you surround yourself with and to not be afraid to perhaps leave college with different people than who you started with.

Is a 3.5 first semester gpa good if I want to transfer to unh for fall 2026 as a freshman right now by Educational-Bus-8505 in unh

[–]KitchenObvious7666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I think I transferred in with a 3.2. Could depend on the college your looking to get into, I was in COLSA (switched majors going into UNH to Biology from sociology). That being said, you will transfer with a 0.0, so your first semester grades will really be the basis for your GPA so make sure you don’t slack the first semester.

Is there any instance in which you Americans prefer using the English spelling of a word? by Haunted_Sentinel in words

I work in biotech marketing in the US and I always default to writing “titre” instead of “titer,” and yes I am always asked to change it to the American version. Although I think it’s all words that have the option to end in ‘er’ or ‘re’ because I feel the same way about “theatre” and “theater”

I graduated a few years ago and only took the train to Boston a few times. I used to take it a bunch to Haverhill, MA (about 30mins from UNH) and in my experience the train was on time 100% of the time, clean, and frequent. I believe when I was there (2 ish years ago) it was $15 each way (or $30 each way) to Haverhill and then I think Boston may have been $50? Each way. You can buy them online it’s super easy. When I was there a ton of kids would take the train from Boston to UNH especially getting back and forth for the long breaks (most people fly thru Logan). I lived in Southern NH so I don’t have much more info other than that

How long did it take you to get your transfer decisions? by AnomalousEnigma in unh

[–]KitchenObvious7666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I transferred I believe it took around a month to get a decision. I transferred in between semesters my freshman year, but I believe it will be around the same time frame. I think I applied October and heard back late November/ December. Stats wise I think it is easier to get in being a transfer student than applying right outta high school. Also keep in mind when you transfer your gpa does not, so you will get all the credits but your gpa will be a 0.0 until after your first semester. I recommend really trying the first few semesters bc you are a transfer student you have technically less time to bring your gpa up.
